Call of Duty: Modern Warfare just now included some of the changes that were supposed to come in the last big patch. The AK47 and the Uzi got major buffs that make both of them much better weapons. This hotfix is pretty crazy. Also, I have some tips on how to kill riot shield users in this two part In Depth episode.

As a Platinum Riot Shielder here are tips: 1. Do NOT turn your back and run away from a riot shielder at close range, run and jump up to me with a shotgun or smg, I can't angle the shield upward. The shield bash travels once it is locked on to you so I kill runners anyway 2. ALWAYS RUN THERMITE, for objective based modes this is by war the best, stops campers, easier to stick, can explode vehicles, instant "explosion", I run shrapnel on my riot class, other riot shields hate me 3. Stay ranged and elevated whenever possible. If you are far, I have to run so you get free shot. If you are elevated, I have to climb, so more free shots.

Semtex is worse because close up the semtex will kill you as well. Also if the riot shield holder walks into a wall with the semtex attached, the semtex glitches into the wall and the explosion wont kill him

I hate that beating a riot shield is mostly due to your loadout, in other games you usually go for the feet or arms or use melee attacks or jump above them but non of that is really effective against these, no if you see a riot shield player you have to lose your grenades.

The riot shield was easily the worst part of the Damascus grind. The 25 3 kill streaks were the most infuriating thing I’ve ever tried to accomplish in a decade and a half of playing video games. I’ve never raged so hard. I’m grateful it is done because I’d never want to do it again.

Casey Barrett I did the dragunov in hardcore shoothouse and shipment. Had no issues with anything. 25 3 killstreaks and the kills while injured challenge were miserable. Thermiting yourself in hardcore and hoping someone doesn’t kill you with a well placed sneeze was infuriating too. I enjoyed the knife but hated the riot shield.

Shield user protip: If someone sticks you with a Semtex, Thermite, or Explosive Bolt, you can survive by picking up a weapon on the ground, thus dropping the shield (if you have EOD on anyway). I do not think this works for molotovs but I've never tested it.

As someone who has more kills with the Riot Shield than any of the primaries in this game (it's my 2nd-most behind the .357) it's really not that great. Like you said, Semtex sticks, Molotovs, and Thermites are basically hard-counters that E.O.D. can't save you from, and the fact that anyone can change classes mid-game means that they can just edit their current class and change their lethal to one of those and hard-counter the Riot Shield. Anyone who dies to a Riot Shielder more than once in a game but is too lazy to change their class to one of those very easy counters deserves those deaths.

When I see someone running around with a riot shield, I feel pity for them, I feel compassion. It's probably the hardest thing to use in the game so, congrats to you :) I got the Riot Shield gold on both Black Ops 2 and Call of Duty Ghosts and those are two games in which it is possilble to start-off with two tacticals grenades, something this game may miss... even though it prevents spam, melee players are at a disadvantage.

Besides that, I think it's balanced right where it is. As for your other thing, Semtex sticks have been instant kills on Riot Shields since way back in MW2, so it's definitely not a bug.

The riot shield has no attachments, slow movement, vision is extremely distorted, the melee function double melees (instead of single), pressing the fire button too soon after pressing the swap button it defaults back to a melee, and takes up a primary weapon slot. Lag comp makes it harder to block bullets because the enemy is not in the location your screen shows him. All your engagements start with you being shot at first. Where is your video on how to counter the millions AND MILLIONS of annoying CAMPERS? Most TDM games don't even hit the 75 kill limit. The shield is one of the only kinda-effective ways to help deal with campers. The shield is suppose to block explosives. E.O.D is suppose to block explosives. IMHO a sticky grenade on the shield of a player with E.O.D should not kill him. Anyone needing riot shield tip/classes let me know.

I find that lag comp makes this even harder (no easier as the video suggest) because the enemy is not in the position your screen shows him. It is one of the best ways to counter the CAMPERS in this game (which are the truly annoying players)

I honestly feel infinity ward has done a good job balancing weapons in the game. The uzi got a huge buff, the ak47 conversion got a huge buff, the sa87 needed a buff and it got it, all I can think of that is left if helping out the holger and the scar and I honestly feel this game is in a good balance state. My only complaint is the mp5 is still easily the best gun in the game. People say the m4 but the m4 is no where near as op as the mp5

The Holger needs a small buff to its mobility (ADS time or strafe time) to really cement itself as a good "midpoint" between AR's and LMG's. As of right now, it's not good at being either one of those thing OR at being a good midpoint.

For going against shields I first try c4 then if that dosen't work I slide around them while hip firing. it always works they dont see it coming and just cant react quick enough.

Also to keep in mind if the person with the shield is using stim you won't kill them with thermite because one stim allows them to survive it

Semtex isn’t viable either if they’re running EOD and neither is the Semtex crossbow, so the ranking you gave is useless on top of that the crossbow takes up a weapon slot or you have to use overkill to run it as a secondary which isn’t worth it. So thermite is the best.
