@@Finzyz-Hooves tbh I like xyz over all other extra deck summon types due to the simplicity of the summon mechanic and the fact that in most cases, your abilities granted by the boss monsters are limited in how often you can activate them like ammo for a weapon or fuel for a vehicle. Unlike with link monsters, you don't necessarily have to "climb" with an excessive number of searches and summons just to get out the xyz boss or supports so, more stuff could potentially be accomplished in significantly less actions per turn with more slots in the deck free to use for whatever tech is desired. Imo xyz is just more fun to deck build for due to its toolbox nature and mostly balanced "detach material like ammo" mechanic. Also sidebar, Yubel loses to Chaos Dyson Sphere apparently :)

Modern yugioh has become solitaire with a spectator. It's a massive waste of time to sit through other peoples combios, they all boil down to doing the same things over and over for minutes on end. Its a boring slog to sit through them. I scoop when I detect someone is just gunna try forcing me to waste my time watching them play with themselves all day. Idc if I lose by scooping during another players combos, I don't wanna waste my time watching the combos when I wanna actually PLAY MY OWN CARDS. I cant play my cards (except boring hand traps to interrupt) if my opponent is on their turn and spending an eternity on their one turn masterbating with card effects that only search and summon shit over and over. Bottom line is, if you take too long doing shit in a single turn and I become bored, I scoop because you aren't worth my time. I play yugioh to TRY to have fun but get disappointed pretty frequently...my relationship with this game is unhealthy love-hate and I cant seem to stop myself from coming back to it no matter how often playing it puts me in a sour mood

@kar31000 I have, and the duels aren't so fast there either because people dont stop comboing with themselves for eternity before finally passing their turn even if interrupted. Salamangreat, for example, is such a slog to spectate and ridiculously boring to play. It's too verbose an archetype that doesn't get straight to the point, and it takes forever for a salamangreat player to finish a single turn. The meta thrives on the longest possible combos that test the timer's frankly too lenient limits. I wish turn timer limits were made tighter. Give players less leeway to waste time with unessicary actions so they can combo less and duel more. Let's face the facts here, you aren't really playing yugioh unless both players get to play some non-hand-trap cards for a few turns. If a duel consists of an ftk, it's not playing yugioh. That would actually be solitaire with a captive spectator, not a 2-player interactive card game. If a duel consists almost entirely of one player waiting more than playing while the other monopoizes time performing card activities, then that ain't a game of yugioh either. That, too, is glorified solitaire with captive spectator. I hate waiting to play. I hate waiting for longass boring ubiquitous uninspired combos to play out. If I am gunna lose, I rather not spend an eternity waiting to find out. If I can win with a hand full of outs, I still wouldn't have the patience to sit through combo. I rather scoop than wait for combo, even if I can certainly beat the end board of combo. Waiting is just not fun, so I won't stand for it if my opponent subjects me to long waiting periods between my turns. I refuse to subject my opponents to long waiting times and refuse to subject myself to the slog of making long combo decks when I can perform perfectly fine with my refined short-explosive combos. Gotta go fast, breakneck speed, faster than any cardgames on motorcycles. As fast as sharks, as fast as level 4 speedroids, as fast as trains. Finish every turn in as few as 5 or less actions per turn in as few searches and summons as possible. Consolidate actions, leave out the fluff and excessive link climbing and summons to search for summons that search for more things that don't actually do anything but waste time. Be blunt. Be direct. Don't horse around. Speedrun this shit

We had a little highschool YGO tourney once. Most were casual players who used whatever they had. This was when Pendulums were brand new. There was a tryhard using Six Samurai who came 3rd after beating me. He called my fairy The Agents deck 'really frustrating' because I spammed Scrap Iron Scarecrow, Marshmallon, and Sanctuary in the Sky......... we had to split our match into two separate rounds between lunch break because his turns took so long. I stopped playing since Pendulums and Links only made shit worse.

@@jmurray1110 Belated answer, but Six Samurai only have a Level 5 Synchro, which is a once-per-turn Spell/Trap negate. They, along with Phantom Knights and Heroic, at least until it was banned, were all about summoning Rhongomyniad with 4-5 Level 4 Warriors, because that either wipes the opponent's field and/or locks them out of summoning for a turn.

Lately this is my experience on MD, I go in to the ladder, not caring about rankin and only doing it to get some gems and fulfill the quota of the duel competency thing so I can unlock aesthetics and I can barely get through anything past silver rank because people I face are obsessed with taking as long as possible to play single turns. Its at the point where I will litmus test my opponents by scouting the first few cards they play and ascertaining if its combo or not, and if it is combo, I just scoop on the spot and move on: skipping the experience of sitting through the combos altogether and disrespecting them by disallowing themselves the opportunity to waste my time. Heros deck? I scoop. Labrynth? I scoop, swordsoul? I scoop, kash? I scoop. Tear? I scoop Bysteal? I scoop Amazoness? I scoop Use maxx c? I scoop because fuck you. Any and all decks that masterbate with themselves in their combos for longer than three minutes tops (not including thinking time) will find themselves rejected by me because they are not worth my time sitting through. If it ain't fun, I won't be a masochist. I don't care enough to break their boards if I have the means to do so when I finally would have my turn because they took so damn long making the boards that I just don't wanna deal with their time slog,. It just isnt satisfying to break their boards, it just feels like a chore of being forced to watch a shitty movie and being tasked with roasting it. sure, it can be done, I could destroy their board they spent too long making and end up beating them in doing so but is it worth it? Is it worth my time? I don't get enough of a dopamine rush from it to make it matter so fuck long combos, I scoop when I smell em coming

That feeling when you know you don't have the ability to win over your opponents board and all the opponent has to do is enter battle phase and attack unimpeded but instead the opponent chooses to NOT enter the battle phase, spend 30 minuets playing card effects, THEN entering battle phase, activating ANOTHER series of card effects and resolving them before FINALLY attacking for game. Konami has broken this game beyond repair with the out of control power creep and terrible card design and has no interest in fixing it. I surely respect the old deck destruction or an Exodia deck, because they were at risk. Probably no monsters, probably no luck and eventualy the combo stops and you have the oportunity to break. But combo now isn't about luck, you just summon all the cards you need to make the opponent not play 2 times, wirh the cancels and wirh the sooo long time doing the combo.

Played against a ddd player one time, he spent twenty minutes to get a massive negate board; I baited his negate then raigeki’d his board. His only words to me were “bitch move.” He rage quit immediately after. I just sat there and laughed. Anyway; the game taking twenty plus minutes for an 8+ disruption board on turn one is the reason I don’t play this game anymore. The fun aspect has fallen into the darkest part of the shadow realm.

It’s things like that which cause people to lose interest in Yugioh the swarm your opponent type decks which is very frustrating. We need more cards that counter the swarm your opponent type decks because this sort of game play is frustrating and annoying not to mention the game becomes impossible to win thus causing people to lose interest in the game, thus Konami ends up losing money.

I think a real solution is a hard cap on special summons. Limit max 3 per turn or some shit, or experimenting with this cap idea until a happy balance is struck idk. There are anti-swarm cards. Kajus, ra sphere mode, nibiru meteor etc..but they are bandaids and don't discourage eternal solitaire like a hard cap on special summons would give

thats kinda the point of an exodia deck run hand traps to stop them from drawing/adding to hand. Usually a good one to burn Ash Blossom on (in my opinion) is magical mallet or reload. They'll keep the cards they want and if they have a shit hand with 1 piece, mallet and the wrong combo parts they'll swap out. deny mallet/reload and they have to play with what they have. If they cant start the combo with what they have they're wide open

But if I get lucky and start playing well, they scoop before the battle phase, scared I might come back and take the win. Other decks are just trap burn otk with transaction rollback, banquet of millions, and D.D Dynamite specifically.

Im pretty new to master duel, and I play pure six samurai. I think the funniest thing about this six samurai player is that if he just focused on using the actual six samurai card effects instead of trying to summon a bunch of goofy boss monsters he could have removed the nightmare wheel with Mizuho and negated the raigeki with shien.

Actually, combo decks have reached the point where they need to run 42-45 cards in order to function between hand traps and combo pieces. Some struggle to keep it even that low. So you wo0uldn't really be able to hit their consistancy very much.

Because key, landmark cards like Quasar/Blazar would go from difficult to summon to downright unplayable. On top of that many link 4/5s require a lot of summoning so limiting it would make those cards far less appealing
