The blades are slightly different between the book and show versions of the sword. The book version has three fullers in the blade, whereas the show version has a single, wide fuller that spans the whole blade, making the edges perfectly parallel.

Yes because Rhaegar was not married to Leana Stark...or so we know of. Some theories are going around that Rhaegar married Leana as his second wife and they had Jon. However, if this isn't true, then yes Jon would still be a bastard because his mother and father weren't married to each other.

Amber Baluk That could be a possibility, but to me that seems a little farfetched that they secretly got married in the middle of a war. It was more of them sneaking off with eachother away from everyone else to me. I believe Lyanna Stark did love Rhaegar, but they wouldn't dare try getting married because somehow it would spread to everyone making matters worse.

I got the ice stainless steel version. It is very hard to wield it. Very heavy, although it was more fun to order that first. Now I need two long claw swords to practice like Ser Arthur dayne in the show. Although I am not sure how to order a plaque alone for my ice. I wish it came with it

Both Long Claw swords are missing the intricate designs along the entire length of the blade. Compare with the Long Claw Letter Opener

They dont have designs, its pattern welded steel which has been treated with an acid to show the pattern. They sell the patterned version on the site.

I ordered Longclaw about three weeks ago and is now on my wall. I kind of wish I got the book version (just for comparison) when Valyrian Steel still had it in stock. Instead I got Anduril and Glamdring and had to stop for a while because swords are expensive.

I suppose that's a question only you can answer. I tend to purchase props that have had a significant impact on myself or its original medium. Originally, I ordered these items because I love the story behind the characters that owned them. But once you have the swords in hand and get to touch and feel what they are, they take on a life of their own - if you know what I mean. Each sword is unique and I think Longclaw is meant to be a good every day sword to swing around with (looks great in stainless); whereas, Ice is a bit too big to "play" with, but it is definitely an imposing greatsword (IMO looks better in Damascus). You won't make a wrong decision either way!

The blade is not full tang, but I mean it's made with stainless steel so it doesn't have to be since it'd be stupid to hit anything with it anyways. From what I understand the blades they have made if carbon steel (or damascus) have full tang though.

They have some really neat designs and I truly love the history that's told about each one. The only other sword I own is Sting from The Hobbit/LOTR series.

I've ordered this from a European seller (cause I'm italian and I live in Italy). It's gonna be my first. I wonder what should I do to maintain the steel in good conditions in time. Is it safe to keep it hang from the torsel? Or should I keep it in the box to protect it and put it out only when I want to look at it? What should I avoid? For example, is dampness dangerous? Rest assured KingStark12, I recieved my Longclaw and it is very well made and very sturdy you can easily swing it without a wobble just make sure you have a firm grip before swinging it to hard.

I have had mine for nine months and I must say I think it was well worth the money and as someone who owns all of the Game of Thrones weapon replicas this one is definitely one of my top three favorites as for the quality I would say out of all the Game of Thrones replicas this one is definitely one of most well made and I am more than happy with the quality and it is still in good condition and if you are thinking of starting a collection I would recommend this as a starter and if you have any more questions or concerns feel free to ask.

Dylan Cole Same here, the Damascus Longclaw was already sold out by the time I saw it but I don't regret getting this Stainless Steel version one bit. In my mind, I actually remember the sword looking more like stainless steel on the show rather than Damascus Steel; even though the show version was Damascus.

Hi! Thanks for asking! I don't believe Longclaw is a full-tang sword - on Valyrian Steel's blog, I believe they mentioned that Ice is their first sword with a full-tang blade rather than half-tang.

Have you noticed any rusting by storing the sword in the scabbard? A few sources haven mentioned not to do that with most swords, as the leather might trap humidity.. but not sure if that applies for stainless steel?

Haha we're building up a similar collection! I haven't bought any other LOTR swords b/c there are so many to collect. Although, I do have most of the wizard staves - Gandalf, Saruman and Radagast - which are pretty interesting. Also, I find the Game of Thrones swords so beautifully crafted - each one is so distinct and perfectly designed for the house/person using them.

Love both pieces, but the scabbard doesn't come with any way to display it separately, suggesting i have to display it with the sword in it, on the one wall mount (a little disappointing) Want to get to see the blade. Do you have any tips on displaying it?

Also, I heard you say this is one of your first purchases, so as a tip, don't expect the robb stark scabbard to be firm like this one is. Its actually got far less metal components, making it actually flaccid, so when you lift it up without the sword in it, it will flop around. I contacted VS to ask if this was a manufacturing error, they confirmed to me, that that is how it was made for the show. None the less, a very nice product :)

TheLivewire67 Thanks for the question! I did see a review of the Robb Stark scabbard and noticed that very same thing. It's different b/c there's no metal frame holding it on the outside. Hmm... In terms of displaying it, I just googled "Game of Thrones props" and you can see how HBO displays their swords for the GoT Exhibitions. It looks like you could hang the sword with the included plaque with the scabbard on; but just unsheathe the sword a tad so you can see the bare metal of the blade. Hope that helps!

First i apologize for my english, i'm not a native speaker... Second, you're not exactly right. In Westeros Valyrian steel is a lost blacksmithing technique just as Wootz is. Wootz is an existing oriental steel, very famous in near orient which we had lost the process arround 1750. Damascus steel is called "damascus" because of it's moiré fringe pattern which remembers the famous Damascus pattern's tissues. Today we can reproduce this specific aspect with a pattern-welded steel, obtained by forging a piece of alternated carbon and nickel lamina's steel. This technique is commonly known as "Damascus" though it's not actually "real" damascus wootz. Cordially, Weez'Art ;)

Um... why? In the GoT/ASoIaF universe the term "longsword" specifically describes a one-handed sword. Unlike in our world where "longsword" typically describes a European-style two-handed sword.

Neither of them are really edge sharp - careful of the tip. In terms of rusting, the Damascus one is definitely more prone to rusting. I have a wax that I put on my Damascus blades - it’s called Renaissance Wax Polish. I don’t really baby my stainless steel blades, though they’ll scratch more due to the mirror finish.

Stainless steel cant be used on the real sword cuz if u hit something with that sword it will break and it can hurt u, stainless steel swords arent for cuting and etc, if u want sword that can be used look for high carbon steel, and high carbon 1045 is the cheapest and it isnt rly good, so look for high carbon steel 1060 or 1090

Thanks for the question! The sword is not wobbly at all. It's built rock solid and is well balanced enough that it's easy to hold and to swing - it has an extremely nice feel in the hand. Please let me know if I fully answered your question.

Hmm... I don't purchase my props with the intention to sell them in the future, but from my experience, the Show Stainless Longclaw will have some resale value though not nearly as high as the Book version or the Damascus version. I reason that both the Book and Damascus versions were limited editions; whereas the Show Longclaw is an open edition meaning everyone that wants one will be able to get their hands on one - so the demand for these will probably be quite a bit lower.

Longswords aren’t one handed they are two. A quick classification Arming sword = one handed Bastard (hand and a half) = one or two Longsword = two handed (generally the same length as a bastard sword or longer) they technically can be used one handed but not advised Great sword = two handed ONLY! Also larger than a longsword

The normal version is Stainless Steel - same thing you get with everyday items - so the maintenance is low. All you need to do is wipe it down every so often with a cloth to get ride of any dirt or fingerprints. Damascus steel is a mixture of 2 metals folded over and over again, until it creates a unique swirling pattern - it's quite beautiful and close to what Valyrian steel is described as in the books. The downside is that you'll need to maintain it with regular waxing or polishing; otherwise the metal can rust or pit. SuperTastyDonut That, I'm not sure of! Although, I don't think the metals in these blades are meant to allow us to spar or cut with - the metallic composition is more brittle than fighting blades. So I probably wouldn't recommend it.

walterxxebenxx Me too! I think it'll be a great companion piece to Ice. I loved that panning shot of Oathkeeper in the show just before Jamie gives it to Brienne. It's probably the most elegant looking sword on the show IMO. I'm also hoping they release a show version of Arya's Needle.

Hey, I know this is many years too late, but I just wanted to share my experience with a replica I bought off eBay. I paid around $140 for it, and it came from an artist/craftsman in Pakistan. At first, I was blinded by my excitement and thought it was brilliant, but now, a couple weeks after receiving it, I'm noticing how incredibly flawed it is. The pommel is rather large, probably 1.3x the size of the one from the show and your video, it's made of either some sort of cast material or possibly sculpted like pottery, I'm not sure. It's also got deep dark black paint in the grooves, making it look smudgy and flawed, and when I took a pair of scissors, I could easily scrape the black off of it. The grooves are very wide and somewhat shallow, and the eyes are pieces of translucent plastic, which are clearly glued on and not flush with the surrounding area. The handle is leather, I believe, and is decent, but the way it's stitched is just a straight line down one side of it which is rather unattractive. The metal of the blade and hilt is just horribly crafted. It's stainless steel, but it has imperfections, scratches, random lines where it appears the maker didn't smoothen after forging and hammering (if that was even the process), it is somewhat uneven, and the little knobs at the ends of the handguard (I don't know the official term for the part, but it's the sticky-outy bit of the pommel 😂) the opening where the blade is inserted is about 2mm too wide, and there is a gap between the blade and the edge of the opening on both sides of the blade as if the maker didn't measure properly and just left it too large. The blade is also atrocious. It is covered in scratches, including a couple along a large part of the length, the base of the blade is just about a centimeter thick flat stainless steel with no edge or anything, then the spine of the blade starts but it's uneven and as if it was done freehand without any guide or stabilizer, as well as it being started at different parts on each side of the blade. It's slightly wobbly as if done freehand in the same fashion as the base, and the edge of the blade is the same, scratched everywhere and slightly uneven and wobbly. The tip is the worst part. The edges start curving inwards to make the tip at DIFFERENT PLACES so the tip isn't symmetrical, and the ridge that lies between the edge of the blade and the spine looks like it was ground the opposite way to make a bunch of choppy scratches horizontally to the actual ridge. There is also a permanent mark as if the maker smudged the tip with something that stained the steel, or didn't turn the same color as the rest of the steel after being hot. The sword also came with a totally different sheath than the show, it's brown leather with a thin gloss, handcrafted, smells like leather but very strong as opposed to other leather products like belts I have around, the hand stitching is slightly uneven, and the detailing looks like it were stamped on one bit at a time in a repeating pattern outlining the edge of the sheath. Anyways the sword is poorly made and the sheath is not as poor but poorly made, and I don't know how to return it for my money back.

Really nice props these guys do, real shame about the Pommel on your longclaw man that really sucks. I have the Damascas version of HBO Longclaw, and Ice is on the way. I also have Roberts Hammer, Robb Starks Sword and Scabbard, and also the Nights Watch dagger set oh and the hounds Helm.... Love their work...

Yeah, I wish it had been perfect but as "damage" goes, this is pretty mild - something I can easily fix. I'm just glad it wasn't the bare steel on the sword or the brass frame on the scabbard - I wouldn't be able to do anything that. :) And damn!!! You have the complete collection eh? I've seen KZbin videos on the Warhammer and that thing can do some serious damage. Oh! I have to thank you as well. I purchased the Longclaw Scabbard based on your review of Robbs's Scabbard. Yes, you could. It wouldn't hold the best edge, and if you were to strike anything, it would most likely bend/warp.

I'm pretty sure Valyrian Steel strongly recommends against sharpening stainless steel blades. Though, I'm not sure what would happen to the blade if you tried. Haha if you try, please let me know what you find.
