You’re right about Rob Stark sword it is fully functional It is now back in stock and I love it it’s up on my wall next to long long which by the way I did kind of break it sadly that’s why I like Robs sword better I was actually able to split wood with it but again I have to sharpen it which I have no tools that would work

first time we see the sword in the show, the pomel was more white like you showed, but now in the newer seasons the pomel look like this

The weathering on the pommel is accurate if you compare it to the way Longclaw looks in later seasons.

Actually a one handed sword is called an arming sword. Long sword, bastard sword and hand-and-a-half sword all mean the same.

Though it is worth noting that some reserve the term bastard sword for relatively shorter long-swords.

a long sword is not the same as a hand and a half sword there are 4 basic sizes an arming sword (being the smallest) a hand and a half sword and a longsword (being slightly bigger than a hand and a half sword in blade and handle) and a great sword which is just all around monstrous

I’ve always been confused about this The first time I ever came across a Smith I asked him, he classified western swords as: arming sword or broadsword is a one handed sword. Longsword is the most confusing, it’s supposed to be a hand and half sword but there are longswords with a one handed hilt. A bastard sword is ANY sword that falls between a longsword and great sword. It always is a hand and a half sword. Bastard swords are swords that don’t fall into either category. Hence the name

Hey man, great vid. I just ordered my Longclaw and am thinking of getting the scabbard. Does the sword fit snugly in the scabbard? Could I put the sword in the scabbard and then hang it up without the scabbard falling off?

I think I remember in the books that Jon (Only being 15 or 16 at the time) was too short to carry the bastard sword so Mormont suggested he put the scabbard over this back. So I'm thinking if you try that it wont be so awkward to draw it. Let me know if that works better if you see this. And fuck it i'm getting it.

Nice video! I know you said the sword a full tang, but I was wondering whether or not the blade is flimsy, like does it wobble? Can you easily swing it around without it getting loose or something?

I just got mine from Thinkgeek which is 8 lbs vs the 4lb one from HBO shop. How much does yours weigh? I really want to get the scabbard from HBO shop. Do you think it would fit my 8 pounder?

PeacefulWarrior512 as it's still made by valyrian steel I believe they have the same weight and dimensions and that the scabbard would fit might be just an error on one of the stores parts

Never with stainless steel. Get a Hanwei Tinker longsword. You can opt for blunt or sharp, best option for starting out on your sword journey.

Thanks Matt! I wanted to buy oathkeeper but I am disappointed with the prop Valyrian steel has come up with as it just doesn't compare to the beauty of the oathkeeper sword in the show. I'm hoping they make up for it with a great widows wail prop and if they do I'll buy that!

Longclaw and the scabbard have both held up very well. I display the sword with the scabbard and sometimes I'll try some spins. Though it's heavy to spin and requires some practice the blade still feels as sturdy as day 1 and ive had it for over 2 years now
