You know how all hunters build a strong bond with the ones they share the woods with. Sometimes too strong. Back in 2007 I buried a great friend of mine not knowing what an impact it would have on me. 2 months later I was in a tree opening day of archery. I couldn’t do it, I never finished the hunt, just climbed down and never talked about it until today, right now. The amount of respect you have for the land, the animals, and the wind that can be your friend or foe. You rustled up some great memories I put away long long ago. Thank you so much for that.

Billy, noticed this video of my bear hunt with you is up over 700,000 views. That is awesome. I have had several people I have met in the airport that have come up to me and said aren't you the hunter on that bear movie that Billy put up on KZbin. So 2 days ago I had a hunter from Pakistan send me a FB private message and reconnected so to speak. He was hunting with the same outfitter that I was hunting with back in September 2013 near Dillingham AK for grizzly bear. He got his bear before I did and had already flown home by the time I finished and we never were able to stay in contact until now. Small World Indeed.

What a wonderful experience to go on this bear hunt with you. I'll never make it to Brown Bear Country, never walk the ridges and valleys there, never get to camp at the foothills by the ocean and shelter from the rain under a tarp for days on end. But this video allows me to do so vicariously. Thank you for the respectful attitude you showed in harvesting this blonde eared King of the Land. An animal so old and accomplished is to be honored and respected for all he represents. I can smell all the smells of your hunt, feel the wind on my face, and share your excitement of the harvest. I hunt only for food. I am opposed to 'big game' hunting, as such. So, again, thank you for the honorable manner in which you sent our Brother home. At 76, TEXAS Girl. 🇺🇸🇨🇱🇺🇸

In the early 1960s I read an article about hunting Kodiak brown bears in Outdoor Life magazine. The article was titled," Kill or be killed". Boy, was I hooked. It was quite the adventure to conjure up in my mind as I read the article. I was not a very good reader back in those days but reading that article and other articles in the pages of Outdoor Life and Field and Stream magazines helped me improve my reading skills quite a bit. Those 2 magazines held my interest more than any other thing that was published. They were high adventure for an elementary school kid. Thanks guys for bringing those thoughts back to savor.....

That second hunt was as humane as it gets.You let the old boy finish before you took him.He spent the day wandering around eating and finished the day "getting some".He had a great last day! Excellent video! I love watching the hunt and not just the shooting,you do a great job.
@stevemiller3082 Жыл бұрын
It always makes me wonder when someone “romanticized” a scene as much as you did just then. He didn’t “afford” the bear a “last hurrah”- it’s just the way it unfolded man. It’s all good but …….
@cgarrand78 Жыл бұрын
@@stevemiller3082 It was a joke numb nuts,he had to wait for him get off of her before he shot.The bear did get a last hurrah so he had a good last day.If my comment really makes you wonder that much than go ahead and wonder away,you obviously have nothing better to do.
@at6683 Жыл бұрын
Sure, it is a bit romantic for my taste, but in kind of a fantasy type way it makes sense. I guess a lot of us humans talk that way, we say we want to die doing what we love, but it's not like either of you two wanted to die during the hunt. Neither would you happy if all of a sudden you thought you were about to, right? But for whatever reason, we like to anthropomorphize animals, so it is what it is. What kills me is the people who scream hunting is so cruel, and critters should die naturally. How do they think any animals ever die on their own? Mother Nature is cruel, to say the absolute least. Can anybody logically argue that it would have been better for that bear if it had starved to death?@@stevemiller3082

When in the USAF and college, wrestled heavyweight at 235 lbs. and 5 % bodyfat. We back-packed most of the primitive areas in Idaho; I used to pack cans of stew, green beans and potatoes. We weighed my backpack one time for a 10 day trip; it weighed 83 lbs. We used to go straight up mountains and pack in about two days just to get to where almost no one ever went. Then again, even in the summer for wrestling, we ran ten miles four days a week in just over an hour. During wrestling season, we ran an hour, lifted weight for 1.5 hours or so and had practice in the afternoon for 1.5 hours. We were in shape that not one in 50,000 people ever achieve.
