Thank you Professor O'Sullivan... I have been following these ideas since 2017 - with your work on cognitive functional therapy and Lorimer Mosley's work too... Thank you for continuing the discussion! 🙏🏽

Thank you I went through a hard year I went to get an MRI because of lower back pain it showed two disc herniations and two bulging discs nothing out of the ordinary but my physical therapist tell me not to bend or twusr just to keep a neutral spine to engage the core at all times. I did this for months my back got worse with severe tightness and I used to be so flexible doing yoga and everything I finally was told by another physician to start bending my spine and doing yoga slowly I went through a lot of emotional distress it's been a year now and I am more flexible but I still feel my back is tight and it can go into a small spasms I have to relax the back more I believe it's the brain now that's sending me signals TMS and proceed danger pain

Sorry you’re dealing with that! I would try to find a therapist who’s knowledgeable about this type of approach

Are there any providers with his training in the United states?
@ModernPainPodcast Жыл бұрын
There are practitioners who have taken coursework. I would recommend you ask anyone you are considering working with if they are familiar and utilize this framework

@@ModernPainPodcast So just call up every pain care provider in Idaho and ask if they have taken any of your training?
@ModernPainPodcast Жыл бұрын
@@tjs162009 I can only speak for physical therapy as I am not aware of pain physicians or other pain professionals who take this training. For PT I would reach out to your local PTs and see which ones are knowledgeable on this approach

@@ModernPainPodcast I'd love to talk about this question some more as it regards the US. I'm a physician from Germany working as a medical educator and bodyworker here and there are huge differences how physical therapy is practiced and reimbursed in different states, by different insurance providers and even employers. Because right now when clients ask I'm limited to recommending clinicians I know personally or who have taken my classes -- I took the "Explain Pain" class when it was presented specifically for SI practitioners (around 2012? in Denver, CO, USA) and from a lot of similar approaches I've seen and tried myself I know now that "explaining" is dangerous. Education is rarely successful if done by explanation (as a lot of passionate educators figure out eventually and then we all STFU).
