I am so lucky. I had the wonderful opportunity to take in three older boys (6, 9, 10) through adoption to give them a PERMANENT home. They are all grown today and doing well, and I LOVE them with every fiber in my body. They have all told me that my love and nurturing them helped them very much. And I honestly tell them, that THEY helped me at LEAST as much as I helped them. It wasn't all sunshine and lollipops, but it's THE MOST precious and wonderful experience of my entire lifetime. I wouldn't trade it for all the gold on earth! ❤

I had a house fire almost 10 years ago. I slept on an aquantence futon and temporarily sent my children to be with their father. This song brings tears to my eyes every single time remembering the pain of that time.

My sister and i lost our mom on 2013 we both struggled severely one day my sister and I were in the car and this song came on and she told me to listen carefully to the meaning of this song. So I did, even though it made me cry and still does to this day this song made me feel so much better. She wasn't meant to be here forever and we will see all of our loved ones again.

There is not a single time I have ever listened to this song that tears didnt flow down my face. The song is very touching. If you didnt know, Carrie is very true to her faith...despite some of the hell raising songs she does. Many of her songs, even on Idol were faith based. It never leaves her heart and she never let the lights, glitz and music industry change her.
@row759 Жыл бұрын
There is another reason, Carrie hasn't changed, her father, Stephen, doesn't give crap about her fame, same with her mom, Carole. Every time, Carrie goes home to see her parents, her father treats the same way as his daughter and Mike gets the son-in-law treatment meaning he is nothing special.

Ill second that. But true story, so i drive a 18 wheeler, almoat a year ago going down a mountain pass in Colorado i hit a patch of ice completely lost control of steering so, i threw my hands up said jesus take it, if its my time then its my time. The truck straightened out and everything was good. Got to the bottom, stopped and prayed, then turned on jesus take the wheel and had it on repeat so i probably listened to that song 50 times that night.

When I was young I had a really good friend from a few blocks over. We would hang out and play video games all the time. I learned that he was an orphan and the house he lived in was also his "temporary home". One day, after about a year and a half of being his friend, I came home from school and my parents told me that he had moved on to a new home in a different city. This was early 2000's and I was only like 8 years old, so there wasn't any social media or cell phones for me to keep touch with him. I've never seen him again since then, but I hope he found his permanent home.

Story behind the song, Carrie said: "I was reading a book called Purpose Driven Life: It talks about how this world is temporary; it’s a temporary home, and we’re on our way to someplace else, and we need to do everything we can here now because this isn’t it. It’s not over. That is something I believe down to my core. One day, I was getting ready to write, and it just comes in like a flood. It’s a sad song, but it’s a joyful song because these people are on their way someplace else. This is just a stop on the way."

Oh Lord, this one is for me! Ten years ago, I suffered a SAH, Subarachnoid Hemorrhage, an aneurysm in my brain had ruptured. I was Lifeflighted to a hospital 75 miles, had emergency surgery to implant coils that formed a clot at the rupture, and was in a coma for one month. My family was told I might not live the night, that I might be in a vegetative state, bed bound, or at best in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. By God's grace and the power of prayer by others for me, I survived. But I was paralyzed. I underwent 8 weeks of intensive physical therapy and regained the use of my arms and legs. I walked with a walker, I was not in a wheelchair. I managed all my activities of daily living, slowly but surely, but very awkwardly. It was not pretty to watch. 50% of patients that have SAH don't make it to an ER, 50% of those that do will die within 24 hours, and 50% of those will die within 30 days because of complications or rebleeds. I made it. I still have some physical disabilities, I cannot write, my speech is stunted, I can see the words in my mind but I cannot make them come out, I have a limp from foot drop caused by nerve damage, I still use a quad cane ... and more. But I learned so much. This is the best thing that ever happened to me. And I mean it. God will often nudge us, try to align things so that we will go in His direction, try to get our attention, but sometimes He has to knock us hard-headed folks upside the head, knock us flat, to give us one more opportunity to look up and see Him. And I did. After two months of contemplating the tiles of the ceiling in the rehabilitation center, I came to terms with my own mortality. I knew how close I had come to eternity, and it scared me. I knew I was only fooling myself, thinking that this world was all that mattered, that I was in control of everything in my life, constantly making plans for My Tomorrows, My List of Things To Do, not truly taking into consideration that I control nothing but my own thoughts. I had fooled myself for years thinking I was a "good enough Christian". I mean I didn't murder, rob banks, lie cheat steal... you know, all the really bad stuff. I went to church, sometimes, I mean when I could find the time. Same thing with reading my Bible. Months would go by...I had been a heartbeat away from leaving this temporary home, and finding out where my home for eternity was. And I was afraid I wasn't going to be walking the Streets of Gold. I was certain of it. God doesn't like lukewarm Christians. You are a believer and a follower of Christ, or you aren't. You are for Him, or against Him. That simple. There are no grey areas. You decide to live your life for Christ, or else you are following some other god, some idol, some fad, the dollar sign, or maybe just placing yourself on a platform and worshiping the almighty You. He is a fulltime God, He wants all of you, all the time. Not just when it is convenient for you. He asks that we love Him with all our heart, all our mind, all our soul, and all our being. That is EVERYTHING. My life changed drastically in an instant. I'm so glad it did. That instant recharted my direction to Eternity. Now, I could have gone the other direction. Denounce Him. Been forever bitter for what had happened. But He allowed me to see that He has work for each of us to do, no matter what our condition is. We are all here in this temporary home for a purpose, at this very time. Ask Him what it is He would have you to do today. And trust that He will make the provisions for you to do that which He has asked. Trust, believe and obey. Be happy. And remember, we are only here in this place for a blink of an eye... He loves us!

My uncle was more of a dad to me than my own. I moved to a different state and had no idea how sick he had become. He considered my three boys his grandsons because he didn't have grandchildren. Even though my sons were grown and a couple were married we all went to visit him. Less than 15 minutes after we left, we received the call that he had passed. I know in my heart that he waited for me and my biggest regret is that we waited so long to go see him.

So proud I made it to the hospital before I started to cry. My grandpa waited until my gram left the hospital to die. My step mom waited for my Dad to get home. It's crazy how some wait for different things. One of my good friend's dad waited until 2 hours after my birthday was over. My friend and I had joked he would go on my birthday with my luck at the time. Unbeknownst to me he told his dad, his dad said I will make sure I don't. Sure enough even with all the pain he was in. I felt some severe guilt at first. He told me his dad wouldn't want me to feel guilty. His dad was a very cool and funny guy.
