1. It blew my mind how amazing the band sounded stripped down, especially since Isaac doesn't have a "traditional" singing voice - he sounded amazing. 2. It blew my mind what songs people were yelling for at the end - it's weird/sad, but I don't know many people in person who have have even heard of those songs. They had the perfect setup for Baby Blue Sedan, but the concept of an acoustic version of All Nite Diner or Tundra is both funny and intriguing.

I’m not sure if it was this same tour but saw them in an abandoned high school gym in Louisville, KY with Camper Van Beethoven right around the same time. No A/C in the height of summer. Literally the hottest I have ever been. People were passing out. It was ridiculous but oh so memorable. Glad I stumbled on this video.

People expecting new MM to sound the same as they did early on are crazy. If isaac was still in the same place mentally as he was then, itd be incredibly taxing. Newer MM is still MM, with the same Brock, just in a different place. People progress/digress/get stuck. At least hes still thinking long. I agree that is hard to find bands that are very unique, but they are not the only ones. You overlook bands that contain unique original qualities such as Beirut, Andrew Bird, The Veils, Minus the Bear, Animal Collective, Dirty Projectors, Grizzly Bear...etc.
