Wish you a happy Independence day too, Shekhar sir. A few thoughts on your observations: 1. It's clear that government is waiting for 2027 to conduct the census, isn't it? The women's reservation bill clearly says it will come into effect after the constitutionally mandated delimitation exercise conducted after the first census after 2026. I think that's a clear indication of where the GOI's mind is at, and I imagine that the call to not conduct the 2021 census was a deliberate executive decision. Henceforth, maybe we will see the census held in 2027, 2037, 2047, etc., ? Idk, I'm speculating. 2. I don't think the PM said or even implied that *If someone doesn't agree with Mr. Modi*, they're a negative nelly (or whatever other phrase you used). I see that as a stretch because I've seen nothing in the last ten years that would justify that statement. I may have bought it in 2014 when I didn't have data, but not in 2024. And forgive me for saying this, but I think Indian journalists must adapt to new realities more quickly. 3. Mr. Modi can tell the media to show X or Y and create fear in the hearts of criminals all he wants. The narrative during the times of the Nirbhaya tragedy was that if GOI passed tougher laws, it'll serve as a deterrent. Yet, 12 years later, here we are once again. Unless the governments of the country bring in police reforms, and GOI and the courts bring in judicial reforms to make justice delivery more efficient and responsive, a strong sense of confidence in the law enforcement and justice system is just shared delusion. The PM should be more concerned with what the GOI must do. 4. On a lighter note: "Nobody says move back to the old system (of taxation)" - please don't give them ideas, they're sitting on a whole mine of bad ideas anyway. 😅 Several edits made.

@@Adi-oc2hd Thats what I said. I don't understand why are they not doing it. So only conclusion is, they wanted to hide something and that something is the population of the poor. They are giving food to 80 crores people now, what if that number is actually 100 crore. So it will be against them. Also, what about der claims of removing 25 crores people out of poverty. So the actual data can come out of it when people will compare it with previous data. So may be they are hoping that in 4-5 years of situation becomes little bit better then they will have this census. Again, if any government have something positive to show for themselves, they will do it. If they are not doing it, then der is something bad which they want to hide.
