What an idea! Guru Nanak mentions that worship of Ram in a grand temple was going on in Ayodhya on 1510. Babar built the mosque on 1518/1520. A british officer mentions in 1800s that the mosque was barren and it was sad that babar built a mosque in a place which is very sacred for Hindus. These are recorded history. Don't bush around.

Here're some historical lessons for your education - India is the birthplace of Hinduism and so all the sacred places of Hindus are here. And just like Catholics has Vatican, Muslims have Mecca, for us there're four such places of worship of utmost importance - 1. City - Ayodhya (Birthplace of Lord Ram where Temple is being built) 2. Kashi (Important for Lord Shiva Temple - Gyanvyapi) 3. A temple in Mathura (Birthplace of Lord Krishna). During centuries of invasions from West Asia (Islamic invaders), Muslim armies demolished others' religious places including Hindus and did massacres of those people of other faiths in the name of religion, converted them forcefully, implemented taxes (Jizya) on them. It doesn't stop here. They built mosques on these demolished temples to show their supremacy & instill fear in people of other faiths. The above 3 places were met with the same fate. These three places are being reclaimed one after another after centuries of struggle, dozens of communal riots and killings and of course more than 100 years old legal battle in courts (one such case is Ayodhya Ram Temple which was demolished & a mosque was built upon it). And this reclamation is being done fairly in the Courts of our country in a civilized manner (unlike those who broke those temples & those radical extremist Muslims who support their ideology to this day) with evidence & proofs (Archeological excavations as well as literary sources) put forward by Hindu lawyers as compared to none or non-serious proofs by Muslims side because they know they don't have any. It's clearly evident by looking at those mosques what's the truth btw. Anyway, Hindus won the Ayodhya case and Mosque was also demolished & now Ram Temple is being inaugurated & consecrated. Some good Muslims accepted & condemned the wrongs happened in the past, appreciated the temple, congratulated Hindus & are also celebrating with them but those who're frustrated and can't digest their loss in the case are crying on social media & playing victims as they do usually. A handful of Leftist/ Marxist journalists & propagandists (you can count them on fingers so there's a list below) are also spewing venom & hate in news media publications (you'll get who those people are if you come across any) because Hindus reclaimed their place of worship broken by Islamic Invaders like Babur, Aurangzeb, Bin Qasim (whom the colonized converted South Asian Muslims consider their father & servant of Allah - not all Muslims but many think like that). Please use "Murthi" instead of Idol. Murthi is the sacred image used for sending and receiving positive vibes. In Shrimad Bhagavat Puran, (11.27.12), there are eight types of materials from which consecrated/sacred image can be made: Stone, metal, wood, clay or sandalwood paste, sand, ink paints or etchings, gems and mental visualizations.

The Murti is carved out of a Shaligram stone taken from the Gandak river flowing in Nepal and India. Nepal gifted it to India. This sgone is 3 billion years old. Shaligram stone is considered divine and its said that Vishnu is present in it.
