The DeLorean DMC-12 is one of the things that has become a cultural icon, famous not only due to it's movie roles, but also the crazy events that occurred with the company and founder. In this video we look past that and just experience the DeLorean as a sports car from the 80s. A review of the DeLorean just as a car, which in itself is quite a unique experience. A rear-engined sports car with a body of stainless steel, gullwing doors and plenty of other quirks and oddities, the DeLorean is unlike the cars I usually spend time with. This one has been fairly extensively modified in a unique way, with a gated manual transmission swapped in (Replacing the stock 3 speed automatic), Porsche sourced independent throttle botties, new seats, steering wheel, brake booster, suspension and much more! Man. I don't know what it is but, even after having owned three McLarens, the DMC-12 continues to be my dream car. I just don't have enough garage space. The longer I put it off the harder it is to find a clean one.

The DeLorean was such a great idea. I wish it had a supercharged v8 instead of its 130 hp v6.

While the engine wasn't great, you have to remember the context in which the vehicle was built. This is 1981 we're talking about. Look up the lists of the fastest production cars in 1981. Nothing had a supercharged V8 . Few manufacturers were using turbochargers yet. The DeLorean is definitely slow by 2021 standards, but it wasn't exceptionally horrible for its time. The performance was comparable to the Corvette, RX7, Camaro, Saab-900, Porsche 924, 944, ect.

@@Ramblin_DMC plenty of people don't get this fact... as a C3, Porsches of it's time look "outdated" the DeLorean looks still "FUTURE" ..... where the People Expect 0 to 60 in 2.5 Seconds and 450 mp/h

Fantastic video! He has a really awesome DeLorean! As an owner myself with an 80's aftermarket (Island) twin turbo variant of the PRV engine, this car and owner really inspires me to step out of the box with future mechanical mods. Well done!!!

Not mid engined. The engine is behind the rear axles which means it's rear engined like a 911 or an air cooled VW.

If you were going to truly modify this DeLorean, why wouldn't you put an LS motor or something with some real modified power in it!!!??? I don't even think this video was newsworthy, it's got a shitty v6 in it, what's the point!!!???

@@EddieX If you're going to truly modify a DeLorean, why not do it with some style? I'm talking time circuits, flux capacitor, a key pad to enter your destination time, a readout to tell you where you're going, where you are and where you were, Mr. Fusion, and a hover conversion. Come on!
