Modified General Coverage 1.6 - 30 Mhz Hy Tower Vertical antenna w SGC autocoupler

I originally bought this Hy-Tower in 1960's and it was damaged by sevreral severe hurricanes, breaking base insulators. I carried it with me to several locations and always the hurricanes would break the base insulators. When MFJ got the rights to it, the replacement insulators were even weaker than the original Cycolac Hy Gain insulators. So, I wanted general coverage, so modified the antenna by cutting out several feet from each of the base portion of the tower to reduce stress on the insulators, reducing height from 54 ft to about 42 feet.
Then placed an SGC autocoupler at the base and it now tunes from 1.6 to 30 Mhz and performs great all bands as shown on WSJTX results.. Also added a few ground radials which helped greatly on the lower bands. This Hy Tower is 60 years old and still going strong.
