it used to be like that here in the philippines. but the marketing of big brands abroad killed the local fabricators industry... however, if the younger scene shall make use of these old jeeps for racing, and organize enough meets, its more likely to grow into a hotrod type of culture -complete with racing and other fun stuff

May nakita akong ganyan na ganyan sa bandang Cavite. Nakasabay ko kumain sa kambingan sa may kawit. Tinanong ko ung driver anu makina, sabi ung pang celica daw. Astig nung pinatakbo nila. Kung di ako magkamali yan yung unit na nakita ko, ganyan na ganyan e pati ung bubong.

1992 meron na ako nyan LS type stainless body with 4k engine,well ayon sa history after ww2,us troop bumalik sa america at naiwan nila yung willys nila or ford jeep..at ginawa ng pinoy, binago nila yung una mahaba passenger sunod ang owner type 2 lang upuan,sa likod wala kundi yung pinaka tapaludo lang rear wheel ,etc.ngayon pure stainless with bumper na maganda at engine surplus,modified satin original sa kano👍

Never even heard of these things being referred to as Tamiyas. Guessing it has to do with their model-like nature of assembly? Or is it more of the look? I never really got to understand how crazy these builds could go when I was just a first grader in the Philippines. I'm 33 now and have been shaped by life in the US and seeing these owner-types transition into an enthusiast vehicle rather than just an improvised mode of private transport is staggering. The engine swaps in these things are crazy, too. Recently saw video of one with an RB in it. If I had the means, I would like to build one of these in the US, maybe powered by a Honda K-Series or maybe a Ford EcoBoost.

tamika and tamiya are two guys who each had their own specific design and style as opposed to the work horse looking owner type jeep. the very short and lowered body with shocks in stead of leaf springs are tamika, the other longer but still lowered is the tamiya

Ganda, Delikado lang Yung bumper nya..Matalim parang kutsilyo..Sharp edges...talagang Hindi ka bubuhayin kpag nabundol khit mahina lng..kapag sa kotse nman sya bumangga wasakkkk talaga Ang kotse mo...kasi Hindi wla sya rubber cover man lng..or fiber glass made..
