Modified Pyramid Crab Trap

Bought a pyramid trap, but was not happy with the smoothness of the open and closing. String was always tangling.... Trap probably half closed on ocean floor. Replaced all string with aircraftcable.

I modified mine with 40 lb fluorocarbon leader line. Works great.

Just finished 8 crimps about 10 feet of 1/16 inch airplane cable 2 stainless steel rings and it works great

Guys, the pyramid trap is history... The best crab trap is the FloorDoorCrabTrap. Unlike traditional box and pyramid traps that have 4 doors that don't work half the time, the Floor Door Crab Trap only has the floor door... And it works EVERY time! How does this hold up against corrosion? What kind of metal? Some metals will put off electrical current in salt water that will deter the crabs from hitting your trap

you can use double ring crab trap. It is way better than this trap (my opinion). I own both. aside from its cheaper, I have more success in trapping crabs in ring type traps, its easier to use, the rope doesn't tangle, its light weight, plus its more durable, mine is 5 yrs old and counting. works well in pier crabbing. after you set the trap you can check it 5-10 mins. I use cut chicken quarters.
