I just got a ex-mining workmate. I know most will call me stupid but I couldn't afford to start in 4wd without some sweat equity fixing her up. Thanks for these videos Ronny.

@HoustonPillay8 жыл бұрын
+Scott Can Do Howzit! I haven't bought it yet. Decided to pay off my house first. I go see it on most weekends though at a dealership. Test driven many times and I'm convinced it's the vehicle I want. All in good time.

Coopers make great beer. When it comes to tyres I use MRF 16ply 7.50x16 skinny rag cross-plies on split rims with Michelin tubes. Never had a puncture. An airlocker compressor is something that every 4wd needs. It's handy in the bush for more than pumping up tyres.

Love it. Massive but understated. Especially with those stock looking wheels. Is it re geared?
@Ronny_Dahl9 жыл бұрын
***** its not regeared with the VDJ70 series 1st gear low is already super low so even with 35's it crawls slower than a lot of other make and models still running stock rubber...
@brokenlegz9 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Saves a bit of money going to 35s. What about at 100kmh though? Maybe it would be more efficient re geared?
@Ronny_Dahl9 жыл бұрын
With stock tyres they over rev at around 2700rpm at 110. Most 70 series owner wish they had a 6th gear but when you add 33-35's it will rev between 2250-2450 which is much better for a diesel that redlines at 4000. Before I added my canopy on the back of the LC70DC I was getting better fuel with 35's vs stock size.

Do the perfomance chips actually improve performance by much? My brother has a 76 series land cruiser (vdj76r) wagon, and is wondering if he should get a chip.
@R00RAL4 жыл бұрын
They do alot but it also depends what your doing with the vehicle & how many miles. I wouldnt recommend a shopping trolly get one.. but would if its pulling the 6 meter boat 800km

@Ronny_Dahl9 жыл бұрын
raywj1fan 76 is the Wagon, 78 is the Troop carrier and 79 is the ute version dual and cab chassis. apart from that all the running gear is the same but fuel tanks vary in size ect.

He says it has between a 4" and 5" lift on this. Doesn't the big of a lift start affecting the propshafts? I mean if you lift it too much the shaft in the front will run and at a too small an angle (180 degrees - x) and eat the universal joint. I see he did insert a spacer on the front shaft's coupling. Please tell what you guys experience. At what stage does the lift become an issue for the propshafts and universal joints. I had a HJ47 Cruiser with issues described above.
@dannyf2688 жыл бұрын
A large lift only really effects vehicles with independent suspension cause a lot of angle over a short distance. On a vehicle like this with solid axles the only thing you need to worry about is the cv/uj at the transfer case. As you can and should be using castor correcting bushes on a coil sprung solid axle vehicle with a lift. This 'resets' the angle at the diff.
@TerenceK-yq9iz7 жыл бұрын
yes... i have a jeep wrangler unlimted. i have a 3 inch lift 'teraflex sport st3 lift kit' with longer control arms which moves the angle of the diff to fix the angle if the propshaft
