The math has ALWAYS been the part that scared me and you just made it seem so simple! Thank you!

This is brilliant! Thanks so much for sharing this useful tip. I have seen a few patterns that I would like to knit, but in a different gauge. This simplifies it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for these videos. I’ve bought the book and used leftover yarn and practiced the pattern and the worksheet for ‘Lizzie’. I didn’t want to practice with the pricey yarn I bought for this cardigan! I was hesitant to use the gauge called for since the yarn looks too loose but watching your video on adjusting gauge I can now use the gauge I want! I will also put in bust darts so it will fit better. Thank you so much!

It's always being talked about how many stitches etc. but what I wonder when adjusting a pattern what to do with the increases and decreases or when there are short rows involved don't those have to be recalculated too?
@CocoknitsVideos5 ай бұрын
As Julie notes in the video, because of the unique construction of Cocoknits Method sweaters, the measurements change proportionally. This is why using the numbers from a different pattern size to get the correct measurements with your gauge works. This does not necessarily work with other methods of sweater knitting.

Hello I bought the book and want to make Emma version C for my first Coco method sweater but my gauge is 5 sts per 1” which puts me at 97.5 for front and back that is 17.5 sts over the largest size. I typically where a Small. Can you recommend how I adjust this pattern to my gauge? Thanks!
@CocoknitsVideos2 жыл бұрын
Hi Alicia, To find stitch counts that will work for your gauge, use the numbers from Molly (also in the book). Just plug them in to replace the Emma stitch counts. Enjoy! If you have more questions, please email us at knit@cocoknits.com.

Thank you! I'll try that since my gauge is off with my desired yarn and needles! How do I compensate for row gauge being off? I worry about it in the shoulder/arm area.
@CocoknitsVideos3 жыл бұрын
Hello! To compensate for a different row gauge, you adjust your worksheet based on your desired measurements and your actual row gauge. See these videos from our Franca KAL for help from Julie: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZ2uq6WAfJ2VqrM kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4Cxm5eCZZ11h5o

But at a smaller gauge would we not also need to use a smaller yarn, and if so, how do we know which yarn size to use? Simply swatch to figure it out, or is there a smarter way?
@CocoknitsVideos9 ай бұрын
Hello! Yes, this tutorial was created for people who want to use a different yarn and gauge to knit a Cocoknits method sweater. The goal is to find the fabric you like with a particular yarn by trying it at different gauges. A good place to start is the information on the ball band, but that is only a jumping off point. Getting a fabric you like after blocking, and using that gauge to adjust the sweater pattern you want to knit is the goal. Hope that helps!

I'm not sure I understand. If I need to increase stitches after I separate for sleeves, how to I distribute the increases?
@CocoknitsVideos2 жыл бұрын
Hello! If you are following Julie's method on a Cocoknits Method pattern, you will do any necessary increases for chest circumference while you are working the yoke, before you separate out the sleeve stitches. If you need to adjust more than choosing a different size that works with your stitch gauge, then you would add or subtract length on the worksheet and add extra increases there as well. Please email us at knit@cocoknits.com if you need more help on your Cocoknits pattern.
