This helped a lot! Thank you! So many videos I watched today just covered making the conversion, but did not get into the real details of cutting the object apart and making new additions.

Use 3-point circle to get it perfectly alighted with imported meshes.

Yes. That is the right way to do it.

Constraints and more advanced sketch features are soooo useful. Instead of trying to align something you just click a few buttons and its perfect. Keep up the learning and content making! (But please lose the music! Most people are already listening to something and you save a huge hassle of finding and tuning free music to your videos...)

Hi, Thanks for your comment. Could you elaborate a bit how would you do the alignment in a simpler way? I think you mean aligning the circle to the hole, right?
@georgelai2810

@@istvanbeszteri6750 well I believe you could have just projected the circle hole that’s already there and then use the concentric constraint to center the new sketch circle onto the projection.

Thanks for your comment! The problem is the whole is not a circle in the STL but a polygon. I could not use the concentric constraint tool on a polygon and a circle. If that is possiible, please let me know.

Solution is: you project 3 dots close to 120° away from each other and draw a 3point circle on them. The 120° rule helps in general with accuracy, but the 3point circle is the key here. From there you have the exact center point without having to dimension anything.

Thanks! Great! The 3 point circle works like a charm.

I wanna have a circle, cut it, and round the edges, connect that part with a cylinder and do the same on the other side just with a cone on top of my cut circle. Can you help?

9:42 could have switched the grid snap on it wouldhave been perfectly aligned. But great video thanks!

The vertices of the imported STL are not aligned to the grid, so snapping would not help much. If you check the comment below from Kalman Fenyvesi you will find a better solution. He suggested to project 3 points of the hole polygon into a sketch. Try to select points which are roughly at 120 degrees to each other. Once you have the three points, you can draw a 3-point circle with them. Check create/circle/3-point circle while you are editing a sketch.

Hi can u make tutorials about moving hole objects. I have hard time using this 360. Especially moding stl file that requires move to fit the objects
@istvanbeszteri6750
@istvanbeszteri6750 4 жыл бұрын
Do you mean elongated screw holes which allow adjustments along a line? The ones that allow to move the object with the hole before you tighten the screw.

@@istvanbeszteri6750 such as enlarging 4 hole in each corner. And out of bound then remake it. For extending the hole. Pretty much same as ur vids. But hole is in corner each one of 4.

5:40 Well... that's great! Mine isn't, though. So... I'll need to resize the body. Would have been nice if you added that. Thanks nonetheless, for your help :) I'm further then I was!

Sorry, I did not mention specifically you need to resize if the size is not correct. That was the whole purpose of the size check. I am glad if it helped otherwise.

The latest version does not have "convert to brep" anymore. Instead it has "save as mesh" which is a bit confusing because why would I want to save my mesh to a mesh??
@istvanbeszteri6750
@istvanbeszteri6750 2 жыл бұрын
Sorry, for the late answer. You can convert the mesh by selecting the 'Mesh' tab, then Modify/Convert Mesh. When you are done with the modifications, you can save your design as STL by using the "Save as mesh"

Hi, I want to make a mold of the STL files. But I can't make a mold when I import STL files. is there an easy way?
@istvanbeszteri6750
@istvanbeszteri6750 3 жыл бұрын
I would first convert the imported mesh to BRep. I explain this around 1:50 in the video. Once you have a BRep you can make combinations with other bodies. E.g. You can make a larger cube and you can cut a cavity into the cube by using the body from the STL as a tool. Check Modify/Combine. Then you can split the new body as you like for your mold.

@@istvanbeszteri6750 Thank you for the reply. but when I do brep, the detailed drawings break down. the surface looks distorted. I have to reduce when there's too much surface. density is decreasing. and the details are disappearing. example: thingiverse= 2578636. too many surfaces. I'm having to lower the surface density.
@istvanbeszteri6750
@istvanbeszteri6750 3 жыл бұрын
I tried to reduce thingiverse= 2578636. I did two reducing after each other. Each was 0.25 density. After this I still had enough detail and my computer was able to convert it to BRep. It was complaining about the number of faces but it still could do it. Too many faces may cause performance issues, but performance depends on what kind of computer you use.
