Modifying a Sony MPF920 Z131 Floppy Drive for use in the Commodore Amiga.

This video shows the steps required to get a PC floppy drive to work on the Commodore Amiga.

You basically did it the way I'd do it - give up faffing about with a tiny resistor, forget a step, have it take a little bit longer than expected, but have it all work in the end. Good man yerself, Kris!

Thank You , I had success just minutes ago on a MPF920 Z121. Now I have to find a way to modify the drive's push button to fit into Amiga case. Help needed!

@@StephenFinkNRP well, currently I didn't find a solution for the push button and I'm pushing it by inserting a screwdriver into the floppy's button hole. It is fun to see how no one publishes a guide to address this part of the mod. They just show You only the easy steps!

Some people have had to cut the drive itself to fit in.

Its a lot of work. I have three Amiga 500's one now with a kaput drive. I think ill use whichever one still has a working drive and if they all faulted then consider this mod.

Leave JC31 jumpered with the zero ohm resistor and don't move it

with a soldering iron it takes 2Secounds to remove this 0603 Resitor.

In case you have the MPF920 Z/171 (or another release with the 24 pin IC model) you should connect the pin #34 to the IC pin #22 I found (but not tested yet) a project on Thingiverse for a 3D printed button: www.thingiverse.com/thing:3402428

I have the same model, but inside is different. I 've changed the pins and it works like external floppy, If I change the pins it works DF0: too. Strange
