This video is really inspiring, thank you for sharing the skill and tips. I am thinking to midify my doll from opened eyes into sleeping eyes, will you share this kind of videos later? 👍👍

Yes, that's a modification I plan to do soon :) I just don't have the head I am going to modify yet

This is greatly helpful. Thank you. I'm huge into D&D and wanted to make a Chloe into my half-elf character. This is some great stuff.

I think Chloe makes a great elf :) But I might think that because I have two Chloe elves now, haha.

Just watched this video and I also say it as Mini -fay. And the big girls are Fay'ples to me. The company is Fairyland and fairy's are pretty commonly known as fay (fey, fee, etc). So it makes sense that they use it their size names. Just my thoughts and so glad to know someone else calls them the same way I do lol.

Can you do this with an air dry paper clay?
@saharaliBJD7 жыл бұрын
Considering how you pronounce the word café, I've always thought people were saying "minifée" wrong xD But that's just me. You're seriously so inspiring, I wanna go give a doll elf ears, even though I have none that need them orz Also random thing, I love in sanding videos when you speed them up, it looks like you're barely moving. I'm crazy I know xD
@LomisPlayground7 жыл бұрын
Hahaha! I WISH I were barely moving, my arms are so tired after I'm done sanding a doll. Or, if I could move at 600 to 800% of the original speed in real life, I might enjoy modifications more XD Thanks so much

You mentioned removing the outer edge of the ear at 1:45 and was wondering how you would do this. Dremel tool?
@LomisPlayground4 жыл бұрын
I've used an X-Acto knife when I've done it.

@@LomisPlayground Was there any kind of prep work you'd recommend? Sorry, first time doing this and I need to take most of the ear off. Thank you for your replies to my questions.
@LomisPlayground4 жыл бұрын
@@GrimsonLime If you're removing a lot, a Dremel will make it easier. Any time you remove resin first, you'll want to lightly sand the finished surface to make sure the clay sticks well. That's about it, though. It's pretty straightforward.

@@LomisPlayground I'll be removing _a lot_ of ear resin, possibly the entire ear. This makes sense! Thank you so much for your help!

Hello! You mention wanting to not cut the edges of the dolls ears as to leave the option of reversing the elf ear modification for the client. How does one remove a modification like this made of epoxy clay? Can you somehow dissolve or pull off the epoxy clay after cured to reveal the original ear? Or is it now a permanent part of the dolls head and will need to be cut/sanded to a new shape? Thanks in advance!
@LomisPlayground5 жыл бұрын
Generally, you'd need to cut or sand away the epoxy additive, but certain cleaners, such as Winsor & Newton brush cleaner, will actually soften the epoxy and some can be scraped or chipped off, or if the modifications are very small/thin, they will be worn away with time as the head is cleaned. I often have to touch up modifications between faceups because of the epoxy eroding around the edges during cleaning. Though epoxy is harder than resin, it's still a separate addition, it will break at the point where the epoxy connects to the resin before the resin itself will break, so sometimes additive mods can quite literally pop off. My Littlefee has had her ears redone because her little pointed ears popped right off once! :)

@@LomisPlayground thank you!!! I still dont have my first BJD but I am absorbing all the knowledge. Have you made mods to include animal ears or horns and such? Or can you point me to where I may learn about this? The BJD i am planning for will be my "wolfy" alter ego but i was curious if people made resin/epoxy ears or horns rather than fluffy fur ones with clips to detach.

@@Karvoo I've actually had a resin animal part project in a drawer on my desk for over a year. D: I've been meaning to finish it for ages but I just haven't had tiiiime! I feel bad because it's supposed to be a gift for somebody and it's still not done... oof.

So beutiful . I want to get a bjd so I can bring my ocs to life . But I found a hedge hog in need of a home. I want to get the doll but all my money will go to the hedge hog. I know I'm doing the right thing by giving the animal a loving home . Your vids help inspire me to get a doll later on. I will probally get a doll next Christmas. Hopefully . I would like to know if you could do his face up . It would mean so much for my favorate KZbinr to customize my dolls face . Thank you

How hard/easy is to remove ear after it dry out?
@LomisPlayground7 жыл бұрын
It's not that easy, but it's easier than re-sculpting a part that has been cut or removed. The best way to remove the epoxy is sanding or cutting it off. That's why I left the original ear underneath--anyone who tries to remove the ears will be able to see the color of the original resin and will know where to stop.

can you try and make a video on how to add a larger bust using clay on a 1/6 bjd (child) the children look cute but when i want to make a child thats about 11/12 the younger base is fine but not as good as i want... thats probably just me
@LomisPlayground6 жыл бұрын
That makes sense. I'd love to do more modification videos in the future :) The hard part right now is that I can't really afford to get a doll just to modify it, but I hope that someday soon I can.

Well... not long. I began with my EID Luo, who I only finished last year. I'm better at modifying than sculpting, though. I'd love to sculpt, but I don't think I have the patience for it!
