I don't know how it works in the Philippines, but in the United States, insurance will help pay for wheelchairs. Thank you for watching and commenting!

Hi Mason another great video. I noticed the tires on your wheelchair are exactly the same as my manual chair. I had to say I totally agree with you practicality was the main thing and even if you’ve got rocksolid inflated tires it just doesn’t last long . When I swapped to the Shwalbe marathon plus I noticed a big difference in my confidence as well because I didn’t have to worry about flat tyres. I also didn’t find that it made much difference to pain levels so for me it was a win-win situation. Unfortunately I can’t think of any specific adaptions that I’ve made to my manual chair. Unfortunately I don’t use it at all now it’s only for emergencies. I’ve been in my wheelchair for 21 years and in the last nine years developed a chronic pain condition which necessitated the use of a power chair, it did upset me quite a lot and still does at times. However I’m just grateful that I still have independent mobility. I admire you so much and your positivity. Thank you for highlighting these issues. I think it’s especially important for newly injured people and also just educating people in general. It would be good to have a similar video highlighting any changes that you’ve made to your power chair. I could probably give you some examples. Then of adaptions I’ve made. Many thanks again Mason. Hope you have a great day.

That's great we agree with the tire situation. Sorry to hear you're unable to use a manual wheelchair due to the medical situation. I appreciate your valuable comment and video idea. Thank you for watching and commenting!

Hi Mason. Another fantastic video with information that’s going to help so many manual wheelchair users especially those that are newly injured. I can remember those early days laying in hospital with so many fears and questions and not knowing where to research as there was very little by way of useful videos to help us. Thankfully nowadays we have content creators with channels such as yourself that does exactly that. Huge respect buddy for for being one of those game changers👏💜👍🙏🤗♿️#ForeverPromotingPositiveDisabilityAwareness

I remember those early days in the hospital as well, researching how to live this life as a quadriplegic and not finding much. This is why I created my KZbin channel. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I didn't think there was another option besides the button for the back wheels. I have a neoprene nalgene water bottle holder from rei wire tied to my chair and a supracor stimulite honeycomb cushion. Also I think dad is having trouble figuring out how to tighten up one of the spokes on my wheels
@masonx547 ай бұрын
Nope, there are quick release and quad release axels. I'm not sure how to tighten spokes, but I'm sure you can find something online.

Mason great video and very helpful. I would like to ask a question totally off topic please. What brand and type of jeans do you wear? My son has been injured for 5 yrs and will only wear athletic shorts or pants. He is graduating college in a year and needs to update is wardrobe. Thank you! Your video have helped us adapt to his new world

I wear American Eagle AirFlex+ original bootcut jeans. They're always changing the name of them, but has around 10% polyester and 1% elastane. I was in the same situation but eventually found these jeans that are stretchy. Awesome, I'm glad to know my videos have helped you! Thank you for watching and commenting!

I put power assist wheels on my manual wheelchair...put lateral supports on the seat back and need to get quad axel releases for taking the wheels on and off. I don't know if the Quad axel wheel releases work for the E-Motion power assist wheels or not...but the great thing about the E-Motion power assist wheels, is that they easily switch with the regular wheels, but they can still be used for those. ***EDIT***: Oh, and I also got Frog Legs II front end suspension and a carbon fiber solid seat panel so the cloth doesn't sag.
@masonx547 ай бұрын
I have never used power assist wheels, but I prefer using a power wheelchair instead of making a manual wheelchair more heavy. I would be more interested in the SmartDrive attachment if I went that route so it could easily be attached/removed.

@@masonx54 I see exactly where yo u're coming from...one wants a manual chair as light as possible. The wheels do only weight 17 pounds a piece though. Unless you can twist and bend way down, a smart drive wouldn't be easier to move.

Yo Mas sleek looking wc. Man those tilits are getting all the rave. I'm thinking of getting one myself. I got a janky Mobility K Catalyst 5. Its a folding chair. But I heard good things about the rigid chairs. I like my armrest so I'm looking for a tilite rigid chair WITH an armrest. If you drive are you able to break down your wc with your not working hands? You are an inspiration to me and a bunch of others bro.
@masonx547 ай бұрын
I appreciate that! Yeah, TiLites are good quality wheelchairs. My wheelchair has armrests but are easily slid on and off. I drive my vehicle from my power wheelchair, but yes I can break down my TiLite wheelchair with my limited hand function. Here's a video of me driving: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJmofYN_gZagoa8 Thank you for watching and commenting!

Hi Mason. How did you purchase the manual wheelchair since you have the motorized chair also? Did insurance cover the Tilite chair wheelchair or did you have to pay out of pocket for it through other means? Usually insurance will only cover a cheap manual chair when you have a motorized chair

I got a power wheelchair in 2015 and my manual wheelchair in 2016. I was on a different insurance for each one. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I noticed that you sit at an angle >90°. Does that ever make you slouch after time? I noticed I would slip down during the day at 90° so I added a couple of inches of dump in the seat and it improved my stability and posture immensely. Have you tried this or have you found that position is the best for you?
@masonx547 ай бұрын
No, the dump on my wheelchair seems to be enough to keep me positioned in place without sliding around. If I have my back too far forward, it causes my back to be hunched. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I have muscle spasms constantly and I'm taking muscle relaxers, does anyone have any advice?
@masonx547 ай бұрын
I used to take Baclofen for a muscle relaxer, but I stopped taking it and didn't notice much difference. I recommend stretching and standing using a standing frame or standing wheelchair. Below are some videos that might help. I went to Walmart and bought a bottle holder. I put it on the right front of my wheelchair so I can always have a bottle of water.
@masonx547 ай бұрын
Is it on a manual wheelchair or a power wheelchair? I had a bottle holder on my manual wheelchair but took it off because it was bulky. Thank you for watching and commenting!

On a manual chair, and it tucked in kind of behind my right leg. It sticks out enough that I can grab it.

I thought with the air tires...they were such a pain maintaining...I would get solid tires...NEVER, EVER again. WHY: 1) OK, when you're in a wheelchair, it automatically affects L4/L5...which will make lower back pain amplified big time. 2) they refuse to move or have any traction when its wet out...and forget the snow and ice. So if you're in a snowy/rainy area...these are going to be a nightmare. You may think 'yaaay' because no maintenance...trust me, I'll, be getting air tires back....just not Schawlbe Marathons because those are incredibly hard to put on...even gas station mechanics and bike stores have issues with them.n you please say if the lever wheel release is a quad quick wheel release?
@masonx547 ай бұрын
Yes, the lever wheel releases I have now are called Quad Release.
