You put a lot of trust in that hydraulic ram holding the bed up while you're under it Brent. Love to see a safety stay for the "just in case" moment. Love this build Mate. Billy J... Queensland, Australia.

hi-tech engineering at its finest, this is how it was in the 50s and 60s growing up in sacramento california.this is when flatheads ruled the streets,up until the small block chevys and they started making speed equipment for them.we had the old nail heads and ponchos and the olds rockets.the hemis were used by the rich guys for ultimate power. gone are the days. tyrell santee

Years ago when all speedos were cable, they had couplers to put 2 cables together. They are probably impossible to find now but you never know. We used to make cables out leftovers and pieces. Love your show. This is how we used to build cars. A lot more fun this way than changing parts.

Not everyone would think to drop those tubs but that is a huge bonus to the overall look of the truck. It's those little details that create wins.

I know it would cost more than the wood but a sheet of steel on the bed floor would be nice especially with the dump bed.Maybe find and old dump truck bed. I love what you're doing on this build. It's awesome as all of your bids are 👍 The olied plywood looks great. Nice job Brent

Love how you have a plan and then change it to fit when your plan changes. Was watching to see if you somehow got the plywood on the wrong side, but you didn't. Pablo looks at you like "I've been ready to go inside for over an hour now". another good episode.

I would extend the top of the fender towards the inside wall of the box. To close that gap so it doesn't look odd. Once its painted it'll look better. you can even butt weld it into the fender and it will look more factory. That wood is going to expand especially when it gets wet. So leaving a gap is probably the best Idea.

Idea, put a piece of plywood against the front panel of the truck bed. This will help to prevent further damage of the front of the bed! You will wish you had built a dump bed on a truck year's ago , the make it so much more useful 👍👍👍

Well done! Maybe Pablo wants a brush too......nah, he just wants a ride. Good luck getting him in that beast. Watch out running those tires on a hard-packed rural road in the winter. I've seen plenty of our light military vehicles end up in a ditch with tires using that same tread pattern; they're fine in mud but dangerous on hard-packed rural winter roads.

I made a longer speedometer cable out of two. I just cut the inner wire and then the outer casing 2' shorter and soldered on a 1' piece of brake pipe to the wirejoint and a suitable rubber hose to the outer casing. Didn't look very nice, but has worked for years now. 👍 And I think it's the first time I've seen Pablo at a slightly faster pace than "walk" 😂

Was kind of hoping you'd go for some timber planking for the tip bed floor... which you could then 'season' with that best of all timber oils: sump oil! Fresh coat at the end of every summer works a treat. But the plywood (assuming it's marine grade ply?) is going to be strong and light. Other alternative would be a steel floor...

Funny how used oil is the only wood stain I ever used with some kind of a decent look to it. Love the direction it went. I kinda wonder if Strong's garage has the old tools we used to make speedo cables with?? They do have a old tool collection to envy most of. We could at one time go in to a shop and tell them just how far off the speedo was and they put different ratio gears on the cables to match it up right. I know that was what we did with our big rigs until everything went electrically driven

Think you may need some sort of cross member at the back of your hoist dump ram just as a support Cross member with a old gearbox mount or rubber pad of sorts it may bounce causing problems down the track lot of weight there Just a suggestion mate Getting there great build 👍
