I found OBIS to be very immersion-breaking. At first the bandit groups wandering about are really great, but after a while their theming gets a little bit suspicious and as soon as I found the book I realized the mod author had a very different idea about what lore-friendly is than me. That's fine, of course. The thing is just… The motivations and internal structures described in the book didn't make very much sense to me. Basically OBIS dehumanizes the bandits and turns them into little more than vaguely intelligent monsters.

@@yourfriendlyneighbourhoodl6206 I've last played this about 4 years ago, but I remember that one book about all the different bandit groups and they were all like "They tear out their own teeth and then sew them on their lips so they look scarier also they're all psychopaths and that's why they kill random people and each other. Don't think too much about how they get to eat each day or replace the daily dozen dead in their ranks, because they're just *so badass*." I mean, what I just wrote is, of course, hyperbole, but… it's been 4 years and that's roughly the impression I got. The bandit's motivations are incomprehensible and their economics of everyday living even less so.
@esotericjahanism5251 Жыл бұрын
When I first tried OBIS I was looking for mods that would give me more enemies to fight but the problem with OBIS I had was that the bandits it added to the game were considered a different faction from the vanilla bandits already in places so everything I came upon a location like a fort or such, I would arrive to a fackin blood bath of vanilla bandits and a couple of the surviving OBIS bandits. Like I get the mod was supposed to introduce the idea of different bandit gangs but I think the added bandits should have at least been non-hostile to the vanilla bandits in their immediate spawn location.

Another great video. I really didn't get into Skyrim when it first came out. I noticed immediately that a lot of the elements thta made Morrowind, and even Oblivion, so good were missing. I was remodding Morrowind and noted that Skyrim Special Edition was 64 bit, and thought it might be cool to try it on my ultra high end computer (MSI Godlike Carbon MB, i7-6900K 8 core CPU standard at 3,2 GHZ, set to gaming through the motherboard at 4.3 GHz. 128 GB of Ram. Liquid coopling system and two GTX1080 video cards (8 GB VRAM each) in SLI. Still trying to get my load order to work, but I will be running several of the mods you recommended not running together because they might cause a lag. Will post on here when I have it working right. If it lags on what I got, it will probably do so on 99% of the systems out there. Again, thanks for your video. you forgot about "immersive wenches" adds, well, wenches to taverns and the like, I also use "Dawngaurd Sentries" which adds soldiers from Dawngaurd to towns and cities to defend against vampire attacks etc. I use all the mods in the video and the one i suggested. Skyrim is so full of life and i love it. I also use ASIS for spell distribution, increased spawns and perk distribution to npcs. Though i will say once you download ASIS, grab the improved ASIS ini files and add all the npcs that add npcs to the increased spawn exclusion list otherwise you will be in hell if you increase the spawns. I would also get theimmersive citizens ai overhaul mod which totally overhauls the AI of said npcs giving them schedules and also deals with how they react to things - breaths extra life into the game. Though, if using extra npc mods i would also suggest when making a bashed patch to go to the tweak settings and change the "AI: Max active actors" to "100" and to change "combat: Max actors" to "120". Whilst the immersive citizens ups the max it only goes up to 80 iirc and to have all these mods plus vampire attacks etc you will sometimes bump into friendly and enemy npcs who just stand there frozen and won't react until you attack them. Upping the two values i mentioned 99% of the time fixes that. But yeah, great informative video, keep it up.

we need more expanded city mods that are compatible with 'open cities skyrim'. I've only found 2. they're both good, but one of them causes "see through" one sided textures that NPCs fall through, and the other is literally just an expansion to the western side of whiterun behind the companions mead hall. that's about the only decent one, but it's an insignificant part you most likely won't explore, and it's just one of many cities. i want some flavour to my solitude, some power to my morthal, and some immersion to my riften. i want my cities to feel lived in, with NPCs going about their daily business. with the vanilla game, it's so bland. you walk in, do your thing, and leave. you can't admire the banners flying from the buildings, the ropes running from roof to roof down the path, or the pure scale of the city itself. i want it to be fortified, decorated and thriving. not a simple stone wall with a few buildings.

its ironic, because in some cases the NPC's added by "inconsquential NPC's" are SUPREMELY consequential. for instance--- try answering Aventus Aretino's call as an Argonian. There is nothing inconsequential about this mod, it can make or break your playthrough and i fucking love it. So does my Argonian (and my first ever Dark Brotherhood character.)
