I have been contemplating this mod for about 4 years, managed to get a used one off eBay, considerably cheaper than the recommended retail price, installed it today with the help of this video, and very impressed, bringing a whole new dynamic, the car is now very hip and I simply cannot wait for some warm weather and sun, thanks for another great video, the video for your battery change was also highly recommend, and helped me a lot.

Cool video! Well done. Suggestion - When closing the trunk on the F33, don't let it fall at all. Hold it until it touches, then gently press down to get the motor to engage. This will prevent damage to the mechanism.

Just to add some information, if you use an obd2 scanner, your module will disable, so ensure you reprogram to enable if you have been clearing faults, or other diagnostic tests.

After watching your video I also bought one for my opel Astra Twintop. Installation is a bit more complicated since you need to remove individual wires from your wiring harness, replace them with other wires and if you're not paying attention you can connect the wrong ones making it not work. You also have to cut trough the power and ground cables to connect it to the smarttop module. What happened to me is that the green LED was constantly turned on. According to the user manual, it means "Module is connected to CAN and power, but does not receive the correct data. Recheck all connections thoroughly. A VERY COMMON source of problems is reversed polarity on the CAN wires. Double-check the POLARITY and wire-colors of all connections!". I double checked the wire colours, but how do I check the polarity? Isn't it just a matter of connecting the wires as instructed in the users manual? Anyways, now my top doesn't function at all and first thing tomorrow I gonna make an appointment with a garage specialized in selling and installing these smart top modules. If anyone knows what I can possibly do to solve the issue myself, I'd be grateful and happy to know.

I have 2020 M4 F 83. This mod is cool, just being able to open or close door and turn off motor while closing/opening top. Like one touch and flip movement on the main button. Thanks, will get this soon

Excellent video! I'm considering getting one, the install looks easy enough. I hate having to hold the button down, to put up / down, and would like to be able to operate it from a distance. I never operate the top while moving though, I'm super scared of it going out of alignment or something if I hit a bump or pothole.

Glad you liked the video! Honestly, the best part is the one touch and remote operation. I don't use it when driving very often for the same reasons you listed.

When you open/close when driving, vibrations make damages to the top mechanics ... very bad thing to do. But the sigle-click option is great to open/close in a parking.

Hi Steve. Did you get your Mstyle fenders from kies? It seems like the crease on the fender doesn’t align with the ones on the doors and the quarter panels

I did upgrade them with the ones from Kies. I noticed that too, but that was my fault when I installed them. I shifted them a little, and they now line up correctly. I just had to mess with the fitment a bit. 👍

Have you considered the GTS style Oled taillights upgrade, my taillights are pre lci, so look dated with halogen bulbs, that would be great to see, and think it’s easily doable on the F33, given the two metal support struts, and internal lights being connected up.

I've thought constantly about upgrading them to the GTS style, lol. I do like the oem lights too though, which is whyvi havent done it yet. I replaced the older style bulbs with led in the tail lights when I got the car which is another reason I'm not in a hurry to do it. I will most likely upgrade them though, because I really like the way they look.

@@fthirty3 Yes I think BMW dropped a clanger, with the design of the tailights on the F33, I too have upgraded the amber halogen bulbs to LED, I just can't understand why they would put the halogen bulb on display like they have, the GTS style lights are awesome, and I may be putting some on the car in the next few months.

Hey, I was commenting on your previous video but it wouldn’t load. What type of equipment do they use? Really brands, as far as machines goes? Or did you sign a NDA? For the on demand tire change. Specifically for there shampoo and vacuum and anything other, did you happen to catch a manufacturer name or what not?
