On the subject of stripping paper off good quality foam core - I've had good success with soaking in water overnight. Does a good job of debonding the glue and doesn't really penetrate the foam as it is closed cell. Requires patience and a lot of rubbing with the fingertips for best results but leaves you with perfect foam without gouges or marks.

That idea with the pliers to make them ruined was super cool! I think instead of a green wash or colorful flocking, I probably would have used some sand and loose bricks, then paint it grey to match the ruins, give the impression of rubble from the broken walls.

Algorithm sent me this way - definitely going to make a few of those stand alone straight walls. One thing if you make more would be to cut off the ends of the triangles to create more of an architectural buttress look to them

The solution for those of us that don't get free stuff from our office! Readi-board from the Dollar Tree is a 3/8" foamcore which is extremely easy to peel. Most other brands, even from other dollar store, have tough glue, but even then, a hair-dryer will often soften the glue enough.

When you buy a boxcutter razor knife, the cheap type that expands out and you clip off sections of the end of the blade to get a new sharp edge, it comes with a couple replacement blades in a plastic sleeve. That sleeve has a black plastic cap that, when pressed into foamcore, makes a perfectly sized impression of a brick. Give it a try, it looks great.

I like the way you emphasize entry level skills while using entry level tools. I'm glad to see I'm not the only hobby builder who gets inspired by progress then pushes ahead inspite of knowing in a different part of the brain that certain sequences should be ideally followed! The doorways look great, but the triangular buttresses look off - they make the piece look like a stage flat. A more vertical buttress would look better. Pilasters or rubble piles could be another way to add support.

@HallofCraftVids4 ай бұрын
It's funny you say that... I had filmed myself making a multi level tavern with a playable interior. It was connected with magnets. I never got around to editing together the footage and posting it. My tips would be, try to keep it simple, that kind of build gets out of hand pretty fast. Also don't make the walls too tall or it will be awkward on the table.

That's nice work dude, they look great. Insta-subscribe! I hear what you're saying about green flock, I refrain from putting snow on my Frostgrave scenery for the same reason, but still, a little bit of grit and tile grout in the corners would allow you to add a bit of extra texture without looking out of place in any one setting. That's a nitpick though, they still look amazing without. Good luck with the channel!

Walmart sells a low temperature glue gun and the glue that goes with it. What about black chalk based paint for a base coat.
