If I got one of these for my retirement property, I'd sell tickets to the installation and have a watch party in the meadow! Very cool guys! Now I'm wondering how they install the true 2 story manufactured homes - the ones that install only on solid floors. I toured one and it was WAY too "shotgun" house - too narrow and dark. But it was straight up two stories tall. Like two legos stuck together. How does that get installed - crane too?
@tamarab57513 ай бұрын
Yes, you'd still need a crane to affix these to a slab; they're built to a frame that then gets transported via trailer, up to 76' long on the interstate. Only a crane could easily move them to where they needed to be at delivery.

Beautiful home 🏡, and finished product. My two questions are why didn’t they place the foundation parallel to the street? And what happened to those windows 🪟 where the garage was built?
@jeb48362 ай бұрын
Hello. Beautiful! Mu home has a similar modular roof design with that upper “hinged to roll flat” roof section that makes up the top cap section. Should u drill holes in that cross support board so that air flows well to the ridge vent ?

I live in an established neighborhood just north of Detroit. I bought my house with assorts of grandiose plans of fixing up the fixer upper 32 y/o ago. The house is in very bad shape. Wiring, plumbing, roofing, everything needs replacement and or repairs. So, I was wondering. Can you have an existing house torn down and replace one of these on your existing foundation? The bids I received to rebuild are north of 200K via conventual builders. ( TBH that was two years ago when everything was super-hot!) The City I live in does accept modular homes, if it is considered an improvement. I am not looking to flip and fly. This is the house my wife and I will retire and die in. The property is free and clear of mortgage. It does have a two-car standalone garage that is in fair shape.

Easy to do if you're not buying the nails. I expanded a room in a manufactured home once. Each 2x4 that I had to pull had at least 30 - 50 nails in it.

I got the smallest home on the lot from my modular dealer (1300 sq. Ft.) and doing literally everything, it came to about $190,000. That’s including excavating, my 9ft basement, well, septic, plumbing and electric. However, be ready to wait at least a year if not longer for your house to actually be ready. I ordered my modular last August and it’s just now getting put in, in like 2 weeks.

Mobile homes have not been built since 1976. This is a manufactured home, manufactured in a factory to HUD's national standards. Once affixed to a basement like this one is, the safety & quality of a well-maintained manufactured home are comparable to a stick-built home. It's a world of difference from putting a manufactured home in a park, on its axles w/ skirting around it.
@tonyamontgomery27333 ай бұрын
@@tamarab5751 Actually, it's simply a name change. My grandparent's 1993 manufactured double wide is on axles with skirting. Yes, today you can get them fully sheet rocked with raised roofs, tray/ coffered ceiling, walk in closets/pantries, laundry rooms etc.

must be nice......a plot of land like this, if it's located in the city would cost $700k- $1 million or more. all the rich people move to california, give above asking price and build 4 bedroom million dollar homes on it
