Very easy to understand. This series is teaching me so many things that I haven't been able to grasp anywhere else. Thanks so much!

I'm so freaking glad for the internet! This video is 8 years old and still just as useful today. I learned SO MUCH about lin vs exp that I don't think has been explained as succinctly anywhere else on youtube.

another great and concise video. This series is exactly what I wanted: a technical but not tiring course about the physics of sound synthesis.

I'm struggling to understand modules like the make noise maths, brains and pressure points. I don't know what to call their functions either :)
@tuesdaynightmachines
@tuesdaynightmachines 10 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Maths can be a mystery at first because you can do much with it, but it's actually not that hard to understand the features when you've got it in front of you (and read the manual). :D

Haha, yeah. Lin & exp are a little more advanced concepts that aren't super important, but can be useful to know about. But as always, don't worry if you don't get it/need it right away. At some point you will come across this behavior and then you'll know what it's about :)

But you can still build a synth with lin. Vca and exp. Mixer ?
@tuesdaynightmachines
@tuesdaynightmachines 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can do that and it will be okay too :)
@QrchackOfficial
@QrchackOfficial 6 жыл бұрын
If you have the Doepfer A-140 ADSR, you're in luck - it's exponential already, just grab a linear VCA and off you go

on 04:05 you tell that there are Modules which can be switched between lin & exp.. can u tell me some mixer modules which can be switched?
@tuesdaynightmachines
@tuesdaynightmachines 6 жыл бұрын
Right. E.g. the Doepfer A-132-3 dual lin/exp VCA or Intellijel Quadra Envelope. Mixers I'm not sure about.
