Modular-System: Formant-Sounds mit dem Doepfer A-100

Ein kleines Tutorial, wie mit einem Modularsystem ohne spezielle Module eine Art Formant-Filter gebaut werden kann.
Mit dem A-100 gelingt das in wenigen Schritten. Grundsätzlich ist das aber auch mit jedem anderen Synthesizer möglich, der die entsprechende Modulation ermöglicht.
Ein schneller Rechteck-LFO (Frequenz im Audio-Bereich) moduliert dabei die Frequenz eines Tiefpass-Filters.

Lovely 😻 the Doepfer A-120 filter responds wonderfully to audio rate modulations. I tweaked mine to tune very low (rear trimmer) so that it would stay in a useful range even with all the FM pushing it up 👍

interesting video for formant sounds,I'm not German so I didn't understand the language, I was able to follow the instructions in English ,but i got lost at the end of the video where the adsr is introduced.

Thank you for your comment. In fact the possibilities of a modular system are quite complex. To get a one shot process of modulation when hitting a key, you usually use an ADSR-generator. Here you define a curve of attack, decay, sustain and release that creates a control voltage to modulate the filter-offset. Maybe I should make a video about modulation sources and destination. ;-)

Schönes Video... aber ich brauche neben solch einem Basissystem auch eine Mastertastatur und wo geht der Sound dann hin? Also aus dem Basissystem in einen Verstärker? Oder was? Ich brauche doch auch noch Peripherie ringsum. Dazu brauch ich noch einen Sequenzer ...und auch ne zweite Quelle für ne Bassline und was zum mixen. Wie stell ich mir sowas als Anfänger zusammen?

Naja, ein Allrounder ist so ein Modularsystem in dieser Grundausstattung nicht. Aber der Reihe nach: Ein Keyboard ist natürlich sinnvoll. Es gibt Midi-to-CV-Module, die in den meisten Grundkonfigurationen schon dabei sind. Damit kann man jedes Midi-fähige Keyboard verwenden. Dann steht so ein System meist nicht allein, sondern zusammen mit anderen Synthesizern, was ein Mischpult sinnvoll macht. Als Anfänger NUR mit einem Modularsystem zu starten, könnte frustrierend sein... vielleicht aber im Zusammenspiel mit Software-Synthesizern im Computer.

I'm new at this, please can you tell me how you connect from multiples to the Dark Time?

It's the other was round: You connect from DarkTime to the multiplier-module. The multiplier (A-180) consists of two blocks: One input, three outputs with exactly the same signal coming from input - and the same structure one more time. So: In->Out->Out->Out | In->Out->Out->Out. The first In/Out-block I connect to the CV1-out from the dark time, that controls the frequency of the sound to be generated (controlled by the DardTime's knobs). The second block is connected to the Gate-Output that controls the kind of note-on/off in order to trigger the envelope generators. The Multiplis-module now is used to give the same imput signal (such as the frequency) to at least two destinations (the two VCOs) - and the gate-information to two different envelope-generators.
