In the era of sire, bassmods, charvel, Mexican fenders, etc. and improved preamps like East, Aguilar, mike pope, other than being able to say “I had this bass built to my specs”, it’s no longer a big deal anymore. I know a great bassist who has a room of high end boutique basses… but still plays a Mexican fender at more than 50% of his shows. I like modulus but the only company that has a chance of getting more than 3 grand from me for their bass is Ken smith-and that’s only because the sound is so unique I’d have to pay that much even for a “just ok” used one

As a guy who owns both a Modulus and a Squire Classic Vibe, I can say that it’s not about pickups, preamps etc. the fit and finish is absolutely top notch, the wood selection is outrageously beautiful, and the carbon fiber neck definitely has a unique sound…. Oh, and it hasn’t had nor needed any kind of setup in 12 years.

How come so many people with five strings don’t play the low B string.. he did At the end a few notes. I had one but sold it. Not really needing the low B. I like a thin neck. I played a Modulus once it was really awesome. Just couldn’t afford it. Got a MM stingray instead. Love it

Pros: - neck technology - weight - Bartolini pickups - (neck pickup sounds good) - Bart 3 band - looks great Cons: - not nearly enough "burp" in this demo) - no 2 way or 3 way mid shift - pricey

Gotta agree. I bought a 5a quilt maple Q6 for less than 3k new. Then, I bought a lacewood Q5 for 1k used. I just can't get behind 5k+ for the new (new) modulus basses.
