I have a Transit Trail. Ford put a speed limiter on them and didn't disclose it. The speedometer is off by 3 mph, so the top speed is 78 mph. I have 2 recalls with no fix available . Front tire rubbing and electric steering component is exposed to weather and may stop working . The rear camera stopped working. The steering wheel controls stopped working. She's been in the dealership repair shop numerous times. Nice build, though.

We can help you with the tire rub! This van with its aftermarket bumper doesn't rub, but there are less expensive fixes if you don't want a bumper. Unfortunately, there is no known fix for the speed governor.

Wow this is exciting! This video started me going through all of your other videos and your website. So nice to finally see a relatively open and modular layout on the Ford Transit EXT. I was curious what differences this pop-top has from the lower roof models, and why the change to the clamshell style for the high roof?

Thanks! Ford has a specification for the maximum center of gravity that allows their electronics to function properly. This requirement is difficult to meet when you add a lift kit and larger tires. Anything extra on the roof makes things worse by increasing the center of gravity. For a few different reasons, the wedge shaped popup top is lighter than our straight lift popup top. This helps keep the gravity within specs. Also, the lift mechanism is thinner, allowing us to have a wider bed than with the straight lift, but the center of gravity issue was the main reason.

Is there someway of covering the entrance to the garage from the inside so you don’t have to stare at all the stuff in the garage, but at the same time allow access from the inside. Also, does the bedding ever get wet from splashes from the sink? Thanks

We don't offer a garage cover if you don't have the fridge there, but that would be a pretty easy mod (IMO). The splash guard built into the bedrail between the sink and bed works great! It helps that the sink is large and deep.

If you want to see pictures of the Transit Trail specific components, we posted some on Facebook, but they really don't look that much different from a regular Transit. The front lift is a subframe lift, so there are spacers between the subframe and chassis. The rear lift was just a standard lift with spacers.

How was it to build on the trail chassis was it easier to build on the skeleton then the standard transit or sprinter like did they make the chassis easier to build on like putting wire, walls and insulation?

There is no difference on the interior. On the exterior, you have to deal with: Subframe lift (different bumper attachment points), New fender flares, Side Steps. Also, the wheels have different offset, so you can't go aftermarket for now.

How do you secure bikes and other adventure toys in the garage? I do not see any L-Tracks or hooks to secure items.

We don't include L-Tracks at this time, but this is something that customers can add pretty easily. For a bike, you will probably want to remove the front tire and use a fork mount.

It is a Microwave, Oven, Covenction Oven, Toaster Oven and Air Fryer all in one. You can choose finishes when you place your order: Countertops and tables, wall upholstery and flooring. Did I say "mammoth garage"?

The video we haven't made yet, is the one where we walk through different designs and explain our choices. The bed is not height adjustable. We tried various bed designs and decided that we preferred a true queen size fixed bed. With our design, you can have the bed in a fixed location with plenty of headroom, and still have room for 29" mountain bikes in a "mammoth" garage.

Been waiting for builds on the Transit trail. Can you share what the remaining payload would be assuming full water and gas with the largest battery capacity? I don’t know the weight of your built out but I believe the Transit trail only allows for 3700 lb payload in total. Thanks!

Definitely payload is getting close with 2088ah batteries and all the other goodies on this build! You absolutely must build light with aluminum, composites and lightweight cabinet materrials to make it work!

definitely seems to be designed by people that actually use and understand the problems fitting out a van can pose. Things like soft sided storage are usually a good indicator the builders are looking for it to be used and not just have pictures taken. me likely do you accept hugs and bits of string as payment perchance?

This MH1/X has a high efficiency 12V A/C. With the 2088ah floor battery, it could run the A/C at its maximum setting for over 40 hours.

What’s it like to park at that length?

@@arkadventure2 it is not as easy as something shorter, of course, but I drive mine every day and there are only a few situations where I haven't been able to park basically anywhere I want. The downtown diagonal spots in Bend, OR are an example. I tried, but I was sticking out too far, so I had to drive an extra block and parallel park. In regular parking lots, I park a little further away and either overhang a curb or pull a little over the line. In my driveway, I have just enough room to be completely off the sidewalk. You can't park in a typical parking garage, but that is the same for basically any van because it is the height that is the main problem.

I always have one important question for manufacturers VAN: why do you install a footrest(side steps)? Don't you understand that when operating in off-road conditions, you have a huge chance to catch it on a stone and lose the opportunity to move on, you will get stuck! And then you showed from the driver's side where the huge expansion evaporates in the rear... and I realized that you have no idea what you're doing. I can see how you have to pass a narrow place on a mountain path, and you chip that part against a rock, fall into a chasm, and everyone dies.

These side steps are included in the Ford Transit Trail package. For our own builds/options, we more typically go with power steps. They do sometimes get beat up off road, but they are fairly easy to service. Maybe some Blistein Struts up front and Shackles in the rear with leafspring upgrade? Anything better than the poor mans block lift that probably rides like garbage and is safer.

​@@thomaswarren222 hum, maybe I used the wrong terminology. This van is the Ford Transit Trail and has the lift kit designed and installed by Ford. The lift on the back is basically the same style that every Transit lift kit vendor uses. Blocks and brackets are used so that the rear leaf springs, bump stops and rear axle are 2-3" further away from the van body. Usually, we add brackets that lift the rear shock mounts higher, but Ford didn't install those on the Transit Trail. I would recommend the shock brackets with any lift kit, including the Transit Trail. Ford used their standard rear shock and leaf spring, but those can be upgraded pretty easily if customers want it. In the front, Ford used a subrame lift which helps with the front axle angles. Ford used their standard strut and shock. If you try to use a Blistein strut on the stock Transit, that can cause problems because they don't make one that fits/extends properly (they fit but can cause problems at full extension/droop). There has been talk by vendors about a custom strut for the Transit, but IDK of any that have actually delivered one. There is at least one lift kit that is designed to work with Blistein struts, but it doesn't use a subframe.
