Here is a home movie taken by my father in 1957 at Lakeview Golf Club featuring Moe Norman, Sam Snead and Porky Oliver. Moe was about 28 years old at the time.

Something my father never knew, but would have found interesting when he filmed this, is that his son-me-later ended up booking golf clinics for Moe while working for the Canadian PGA (now the PGA of Canada). No contracts or agreements, just letting Moe know where and when he had to be there. Never flew either, drove everywhere.

Surprised this doesn't have more views, that's the youngest I've ever seen Moe in a video, thanks for sharing. It's interesting how much he seems to be going after the ball compared to later videos, reminds me a bit of Bryson tbh. Hopefully Todd Graves misses this one and we can have a Moe video without attempts to monetise his golf swing.

Moe loved performing for a crowd. They accepted him and his eccentric nature. The unappreciative brass at Augusta, not so much.

Awesome footage! Two legends of the game playing the best muni in the country. The original fieldwork was done by Stanley Thompson. I walked into the clubhouse today and booked a tee time for tomorrow afternoon. I think it's fantastic and slightly unbelievable that this storied layout is available to the common man. It hosted the Canadian Open in 1923 and again in 1932. On the other side of Dixie Road is the Toronto Golf Club. God luck getting a tee time there....

You're a blessed man to have met Moe in the flesh. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Moe Norman, and I'll always be grateful to Titleist for having handed Moe a lifetime monthly check for having endorsed Titleist. Should I ever buy a new set of irons, it will be Titleist. And thanks again for that fabulous film footage! @@lal1921

Thankyou for posting this video 4 years ago I started transforming my swing to Moe one plan swing as of today I love my swing and my ball sticking is awesome. Some of the guys at my club call me Moe Ha Ha credos to Moe and Todd.Happy swinging to you one planner swingers

Great video ..... thanks for sharing. Two observations ..... first, Moe's footwork was really wild back then. Later on he realy stabalized his balance and footwork. Second, look at the condition of the course back then. Today we try to over maintain courses to some kind of unrealistic conditioning standards. Cost of golf couse maintnance is through the roof and we need to get to realistic stabdards and back to the root of the game.

Golfers from the west Toronto know this course very well. It’s owned and operated by the city of Mississauga. It’s right across the street from the Toronto Golf Club, an old, historic course designed by Harry Colt. Lakeview is in much better condition than this film shows. It’s a tight, tough course with a couple of weird holes which is typical of many courses that have to adjust to urban growth. It’s a busy, popular course.

Wow, amazing footage. Funny how I could tell it was Moe just from his mannerisms let alone his swing. He looks like he had amazing club head speed when he was younger. The way he gets his shoulders and hands through the shot is awesome to watch.

thanks for sharing .. interesting how Moe's front foot slides out in these swings and he seems out of balance .. something that he didn't do in later years .. he was still finding his swing even then

Moe had some pretty "mobile" feet at that time. The swing was more agressive but just as sweet as during his later years.

@@kevincampbell1395 and he was my favorite for years! He was rude and irascible at a golf merchandise show in Charlotte…circa 1992 or so I just never understood why he had to be so rude to people that had come some distance to see HIM…. I hope your game is in great shape…take care

No trackman, or ways to track ball flight no high tech heads made of space age materials, just good old fashion swining club. No golf swing hasnt changed much at all has it. Imagine Moe norman going for a lesson wih modern day teacher...just think the cookie cutter swings coaches are trying to give players.

Really could have done without the schmaltzy Masters theme music. BTW, it’s always weird to watch an old video like this and realize that 99.9% of the adults in the video are dead.
