Very good build, your mechanical prowes is very good. I have this kit and every aftermarket product available. However with the exception of the translator computer you can see the cockpit control station to well. I'll skip the instrumentation motor. As for the area where the Space Pod is docked. I have actual TV show picture Gell screens I made. So you'll be able to see the Space Pod door and hallway leading to it. In some episodes the airlock door is completely open.

Chris, Have a suggestion for the landing strut. Near the foot pad, there is a ribbed section. I am considering to use a short spring, slipped over the brass tubing. This should eliminate gluing plastic to brass and keep the strength.

I think the difference in sizes for the landing gear is because the 16" Lunar models J2 is supposidly scaled at 1/35th as on the box. The Mobius J2 which is also supposidly scaled at 1/35th as advertised on it's box. Problem is the Mobius J2 is 18" in diameter. So I believe the Parragrafix landing gear was probably based on the Lunar model 16" scale. Do you still have the Paragrafix set? I will take it off your hands for my Lunar J2. I think they will work for it.

Hi Chris, do I need to paint the inside of the lower hull black to avoid light seepage?, I am using the Lighting kit for the Jupiter 2, I am not sure if you have seen the lighting kit and what is involved. And advice would be appreciated... thanks

I don't know if you really need to or not. I quite often do to be safe, but you could just paint the outside and shine a flashlight through to see if it's needed.

Depends on the situation. I usually do a Tamiya flat coat over painted parts. If glossy though, Tamiya clear coat.

Chris, What source did you find the fusion core light kit as shown in JP-2 part 1? Your kit has one LED for every opening. I got the lighting kit from Moebius. Their core light the LED's don't align to the openings, the LED count does not match the number of openings for the bottom cover.

Hi Chris, a question, after painting the landing gear and other components, do you apply a top coat as you go on the painted parts, have only just started this build and enjoy following you as I go thru this build. Any help would be appreciated.. cheers

I typically do a Tamiya flat clear coat over flat items and Tamiya gloss coat over glossy. I also do a gloss coat before washes, then do a flat coat.

I purchased the Moebius external lighting kit, but the fusion core board is different than the one you use. Your board says Lost in Space on it. Mine says UFO, doesn't have the center hole for mounting, and has only 24 lights, not 32. Thus the lights don't align with the core frame. The packaging looks official Moebius, Any suggestions?

@sticklevich Sorry, unfortunately I don't. The fusion core lighting I used was provided by my client. I know Moebius Models sells their own fusion core lighting, which should be accurate for their model you would think. Unless there's a 3rd party marketing as Moebius. Try contacting Moebius.

I'm interested in understanding where the stairs lead. Do they take you to the lower level? There doesn't seem to be enough room for the lower level let alone the room below the lower level featured in Season 3 Episode 2 The Space Creature. Is there enough room for the Space Pod and Chariot?

In the model itself, no. Realistically, there's no way they could've had a lower and upper level based on the shape of the ship and the scale. But that's the magic of TV I guess. Just like the elevator would never fit below the deck level in the model. Not even close.

@@modelsbychris And yet they pushed it further in The Space Creature with a third level below the sleeping/eating level. They did master artificial gravity so maybe the inside is like the Tardis for Doctor Who. Inner space exceeds outer space. I'd love to see how they would deploy the Chariot. I don't see anywhere it would fit. Does the Space Pod fit? I'm also wondering how Doctor Smith got his own sleeping quarters. I'm guessing Judy and Don had to double-up which they obviously wouldn't mind. I'm sure John and Maureen shared the same sleeping room. We never saw anyone's sleeping rooms besides Dr. Smith's and Will's. Having the hole in the floor by the ladder always looked dangerous, especially when they're getting tossed around. Someone is bound to fall down the hole.

HI Chris, I'm currently building the Jupiter 2. Air Brushing Vallejo paint even thinned is very difficult. What mixture did you use?

I thinned my paint with alcohol. I just do it by eye. Don't really know a ratio.

Hello Chris, I am challenging myself to build the Jupiter 2 with all the lights and electronics as you did. Question: I see you will paint a part, then later glue it. Does the glue cut through the paint to fuse to the plastic, or are you scrapping away the paint?

I typically tape over tabs and parts that fit together when I'm painting to keep them clean for gluing. You can see in some of my videos the yellow Tamiya tape covering. But I have glued painted pieces together as well without any issues.

I'm worried about the strength of that eye piece you glued on. Is it weight bearing?

Not really. It's more of a matching filming model thing. And with the strut glued in position in the hull and in the foot, there's extra strength there as well. I've taken that into consideration. And I do have a plan if there's an issue later.

@@fernandofranca3921 oh. If you're referring to the fusion core ring, that was provided to me by the client, along with the model. I know doing a search on Google there are a couple different 3rd party lighting cores you can get. @@fernandofranca3921 There are a lot of different lighting kits out there available for that model. Other than the fusion core, which my client provided, all the rest I did from scratch. Just pretty much using 3mm LEDs and 0402 SMD LEDs.

Hi i like what your doing so far nice work. If you and your client go to Simon Mercs channel The Kit Factory he has done a lot of these Jupiter builds and what he has done with the electrics etc for his client's wishes is truly amazing inside and out.
