THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Seeing this video SAVED US $48 (Amazon) by not having to replace our faucet. While ours is a different style with the button on top, I got the general idea on disassembly & took ours apart, and cleaned it out. Now the switch from stream to spray WORKS... 🙂

Thanks for sharing. I was almost convinced the cartridge was bad but after watching this video, I cleaned up every piece of the handle with vinegar and baking soda and now it works like a champ. The pressure is restored as new. The filter was clogged with calcium deposits and had blocked the flow almost to a grinding halt.

Patrick, thanks for the video. I have a different model Moen pull out faucet, but the procedure worked the same. Also, the water flow rate can be increased by modifying the flow restrictor/screen shown at 25 seconds in the video. The restricter has three small holes on the back side that can be drilled out to a larger size.

Also works on the Moen Medina! That's what I have, and while the base is different, the wand appears to be identical as far as I can see. My spray/off button was sticking, I popped it off as per the video here (and it was a real pain to get the slide half off, but it finally came out). Re-seated it, doesn't seem to be sticking anymore, think that did it. Will know in a day or 3 of washing dishes - was probably something jammed in there. So thanks for the instructions, beats $50 for a new one from Moen, as that's what they charge for a wand kit, and the order page 404's so I don't even know if I could order it online. But mega thanks, saved me time and money.

That is really good to know. These manufacturers will often say lifetime warranty but it is quite the hassle trying to not only find the write part but like you said it makes no sense at all having to replace the entire wand. Thank you for the feedback!

Can this approach be used to replace the aerator? Are there other aerators that are more than the 1.5gpm that is standard with this faucet?
@laertica9 ай бұрын
My issue is that the rubber cover on the rocker switch (from spray to solid stream selector) has worn so thin that it has come apart. Is anyone aware of an easy fix/replacement, short of buying an entire new wand or faucet assembly? Thank you for the very informative video.
@mayorb33668 жыл бұрын
He left the last bit out for some reason. At 2:24 the screen he is pointing to can be removed, just push up from the other side. There you will see the screen snapped into a gray part. That screen pops out by using a paper clip inserted in the side. Now you have access to all sides of the screen.

Thank you so much. I have Moen 87017, the water pressure was low. After I followed the steps in the video I was able to open and clean it up, after that I got almost the normal flow of water. The aerator at the tip of the spout came out and I am not able to put it back 'cause it is slightly broken. Would you know where could I find the aerator and what size? Big thanks.
@patrickjohn90912 жыл бұрын
Pankaj, I would try reaching out to Moen directly. Most of their faucets have lifetime warranty. I have had a couple of issues with handles on the faucet leaking and called up Moen and they sent me out new assemblies at no charge. Post a reply if you have any success!

@patrickjohn90913 жыл бұрын
Wanda, seeing that this faucet is 10+ years old you would have to go through Moen direct. I ended up taking out the aerator on mine because it was cheaper than constantly cleaning it out or the alternative was replacing my whole house water filters more frequently than I would like. What did seam to work was soaking overnight the aerator in a vinegar solution and working at it with an old toothbrush. I hope it works out for you!

can you unscrew the bottom of the spout where the aerator is without taking the rest of it apart? does anyone know if there is an aerator key available that fits into the four slots around the aerator?
@patrickjohn90916 жыл бұрын
Patty if you go to the 2:11 minute mark on the video I show how to unscrew the head of the assembly. The aerator is a molded piece and does not separate even though the slots make it look like it can. Once the head is unscrewed you can take the components out and clean the aerator. Let me know how it goes.
@pattyguilford59306 жыл бұрын
thanks for your demo--- good to know how that things put together. i still think the head is designed to unscrew without taking it apart-- i've seen videos of doing it with pliers-- but its going to make a mess. there's got to be a tool that fits the four indentations in the head that spins the head off. finding it is the problem. anyhow, your video provides a much needed alternative. thanks.
@patrickjohn90916 жыл бұрын
Your welcome Patty. I think you are right:)! After I took everything apart and unscrewed the head with quite a bit of force. I would be afraid to use a tool because I have a feeling it might break. I would be worth a try though. Thanks again Patty for the question and feedback.
