I love how generous Elizabeth Taylor could be at times. She spoke warmly of Marilyn Monroe on screen as well, and possibly was the one that said "God kissed her (Audrey Hepburn) on the cheek and there she was." Ava really was gorgeous.... one of the most beautiful I think and even though she was glammed up, her beauty was very natural :)

Gene Tierney was offered Grace Kelly's role. She turned it down because she didn't want to be in Africa away from her daughter for months. In her autobiography she claims that Ava stole the film anyway - "not because she is more beautiful. She can act." I loved that. And as far as comparing Ava and Grace ... Grace was pretty but Ava was gorgeous. Like, other world gorgeous. Her only beauty rival at that time was Elizabeth Taylor who was at the height of her beauty in The Last Time I Saw Paris. But even a teenage Elizabeth admired Ava's beauty. Years and years later she mentioned her in interviews when asked who was beautiful. However, Grace and Ava were good friends. Later in her life after Grace died Ava said "I don't miss a lot of people but I do miss Gracie Grimaldi."

@andeaver1937 besides, in kelly's personal life, she also had affairs with married men like ray milland and gary cooper. i don't find kelly any higher than gardner except she just knows better to hide and act decent. i have nothing against kelly, who is also one of my frequently watched actresses, and i just try to make a point that reputation doesn't necessarily reflect the actuality. obviously, i ADORE ava more!
