Thanks, as a Captain (who drives both tugs and dinner vessels) watching others is always fun and we do have the same sort of thing here in NYC on the Hudson once a year. I and my buddies try and make it a show to help those in the area see that tugs aren't just the utility vessels they seem to be but are also agile craft capable of fun as well.

I really loved it, absolutely magnificent. Wish only the video would have taken a lot longer. Thanks for sharing, it was great!

No, not both are Voith-Schneider tugs. The Bugsier 16 is but the Fairplay II has Z-drives. But these are located near the bow, called tractor design. That's why the wash is quite similar on both. :-)

No, you can tell by the stern of the tug and the location of the wash. These are Voith-Schneider tugs.

Not a tugboat enthusiast, but your superb video caught my attention and triggered my curiosity about the whole subject.

Interesting! I thought exactly the opposite, because the Bugsier 16 has a more vigorous wash, I would say it's got the Z-drives, and the other with a smaller wash had the VS system. Thanks for the answer!

Hi there!Well, the Fairplay II has got two Schottel Rudder Propellers in Kort Nozzels!It is a kind of a ASD.The Bugsier 16 has got two Voith-Schneider Propellers.
@DVKajak11 жыл бұрын
I noticed that, too. My only guess for a reason is the smaller draft of the Bugsier 16 (4.6m) compared to the Fairplay II (max 5.2m). But it may also be that a VSP generates more wash in general... I have to watch more tugboat videos to clarify that! ;-)

Haven't the faintest idea what that means since I'm in the US. My inquire was about the drive system not the hull builder. Thanks for filling me in though.

stavo guardando i modellini di nave in scala. Quando ho visto il suo video, ho pensato: ecco, questi sono veramente ben fatti, sembrano veri. Subito dopo mi sono accorto che erano proprio veri. Comunque, complimenti bel video. I was looking at scale model ships. When I saw his video, I thought here, these are really well made, seem real. Soon after I realized they were really true. Anyway, nice video congratulations.

The tugboat mating dance is very complex... watch as the male and female interact in this delicate manouvering session after which the male will escort the female to her berth...
