One of the most laid back responses to a great appraisal. "Cool." I would have to guess that he already knew the value of his piece and was just already happy to be showing it at this occasion. His reaction is much like the withering response to a working artist..."well, it is a pretty picture."

That was my gut response too. sometimes when shows like this become well known, after a period of time, people bring stuff just to show it off, and maybe to give the piece publicity and an appraisal on TV. Kind of like Pawn Stars which does the same thing sometimes.

As an art conservator I have worked on severely damaged micro mosaics. They are amazing works of art. This one is stunning. I wish they had shown a very close up shot of it so that people could see what a micro mosaic looks like in person. I'm surprised at the value they placed on it.

@@MellowWind I have no credentials in appraisal, in fact, it is verboten for a conservator to consider value of an object during the treatment of an object. Not exactly. Whether in the intent of your accusation or misunderstanding his exact verbage. although yes he DID have a micromosaic that indeed was by virtue of the signature, done by WHAT THIS GUEST INITIALLY AND CLEARLY thought was either by the father or the son, of which he mentions. However, when David later reveals that there are in fact MORE than just that father and son duo of artists in that family, what confounds me beyond logic and reasoning is your near flat out declaration of "this guy knew what he had". I'd perhaps agree with you if at the beginning the guest - instead of his EXPLICITLY STATED QUERY of whether is was by the father or the son, and instead not only indicated to this appraiser David that he was aware of more than just the father and son, and so therefore through David's well documented academic background and experience for his young age- whether he could positively confirm or attribute this to just ONE of those documented Moglia family artists; but clearly this guy has NO inkling whatsoever of any Moglia family artists than the more famous father and son. The "so what" reply you get here too doesn't even get close to the astonishment I have in how you ever conclude that this man knew what he had!?

$85,000 is not an impressive price in the world of art. As he states at one point in the beginning, family was in the art dealing business. He probably is not poor, and he is also accustomed to at least hearing about a lot more valuable art that what we have here. By the way, I usually go for Miso Ramen no-meat at my nearby Japanese restaurant. It's only $14 but you get to eat for two nights. What? Don't tell me now that's too expensive for you.

@@anthonyp2506 What's the difference between grandmother being an Antique dealer and the "family was in the art dealing business" I said. None. Also what should I research? This is about watching and commenting on what is stated in the video. And since you are so keen to detail, pay attention to him saying the painting was in his grandmother's home. Grandmother was an antique dealer, meaning, he knew exactly its worth. That's why he is not surprised and why he does not react to the price announcement. Last but not the least this is a TV show, and like all TV shows nothing just happens. In this instance they knew before hand what is going to happen and they kind of knew what they were going to say. Nobody on earth is going to believe what I’m about to say, but…I was recently shown by my Higher Self the Red around this picture in my mind’s eye. A few, what looked like, pencil drawings of pictures, although not very clear at all, morphed inside and then faded away. That was around mid-day for me. Then later on that evening, I went onto KZbin. In my KZbin feed was an Antiques Roadshow video. When I looked at it, the Red caught my eye, so I touched it, and then the video started to play. I was STUNNED! I saw a picture inside the Red “box” that turned out to be a picture, of ME! I was so shocked that I threw my iPad down and shouted out loud “That was ME”! The 3 people in my family I’ve told don’t believe me, but that’s ok. I know exactly what happened, and nobody on earth can convince me otherwise.
