The first time I ever saw Mogwai live was the 2001 Reading Festival. This was the set closer. A true sonic baptism by Marshall stacks. I went from someone who ‘quite liked’ their music to a lifelong fan that night. Live they are still transcendent.

I come back to this video quite frequently after seeing it for the first time in 2016. Thank you for uploading this legendary and fire hell raising aggressive performance.

this is magnificent. My Father My King in an indoor venue is an experience I'll always remember. Complete sensory overload.

Saw Mogwai open for The Cure what feels like a lifetime ago and this was the closer though I remember it like yesterday.

totally blissing out to this song while at work. 15 minutes in I check and see it's barely halfway through. Awesome.

Saw them 2 months later for the very first time in a belgian festival with Trail of Dead and Lift To Experience. The 3 of them played a super mega giga ultra loud set. Mogwai was the loudest band of the festival. Half of the crowd had to hide their ears with their hands to protect them. 😅

they ended the show in Austin, TX a couple of years ago with this. Yeah, f*cking brutal, wonderful, loud, heavy, beautiful

I wish I could go check out Atomic live, but this will have to suffice in the meantime. Thanks for posting; this is such a nice way to wrap up a live Mogwai performance, I am still grateful to have seen them live the few times I have!

This is still the only relevant Mogwai song I was never allowed to listen to live 'til this day. What a shame. Amazing though!

never allowed to listen too? i can only ask why?

+einzack I just mean "live in the crowd" - I saw the guys a dozen times since 2006, but they never played MFMK at a gig I was visiting 😬

I played in a 3-piece instrumental band called The Vacant, but I still don't know WHY this genre didn't become more successful! 😰🎶 ❤

Oh yeah? I'll encourage you, and shun butter! Still, Mogwai is better than Explosions in the sky IMO. And yes, feedback is NOT noise! It's on purpose. They are now close to being named into the rock in roll hall of fame, and at 1 point was the loudest band on 🌎 Maybe you should study the lyrics more. 😉

Things in the world (especially the U.S. Thanks, Drumpf!) are pretty shitty right now. People are scared, sad, worried, and anxious. If you are in need of some serious catharsis, crank this song up as loud as your speakers can handle and lose your fucking shit (preferably in your own home and avoid sharp, pointy objects)! I promise that you will feel so much better when you are done. Stay safe and be well.

Last 7 to 8 minutes aren't really the song... just a noise outro to end the show. They also do it on We're No Here. Awesome nonetheless.
@tutsybassista4 жыл бұрын
Just listen to the 20 minute version! I think they were improvising to see how long they can play. And, they use to be the LOUDEST ROCK BAND at the time. Does anyone know?
@smajlioreo51733 жыл бұрын
@@tutsybassista No band can get louder than Mogwai. I tried to record them live with a minidisc player in Singapore in 2006. Their awe-inspiring guitarscape killed my earphones in seconds!
