From the live film "Burning", out in August 2010. www.mogwai.co.uk/
"The Scottish band Mogwai performs an incandescent show in front of a stunned crowd. As if time stood still, the audience is transported along by musical waves, both poetic and violent. 'Burning' dives into this wild sensual flow. Directors Vincent Moon and Nathanaël Le Scouarnec guide us into a dream where there is no tomorrow. This is a black and white experience of the senses carved by the raw emotion of this pioneering band that doesn't need any words to touch the heart of its listeners. Layered and innovative, the movie has its finger firmly on their pulse, a sonic adventure between hope and rebellion. A lifetime of feelings in just one night."

Spun this entire live CD when I rode a bus into NYC at dawn on a bus for the first time. Snow falling as the sun rose and I entered the city. Nothing like it ever since.

“I wouldn't mind dying in a plane crash. It'd be a good way to go. I don't want to die in my sleep, or of old age, or OD. I want to feel what it's like. I want to taste it, hear it, smell it. Death is only going to happen once. I don't want to miss it.” -Jim Morrison

Eric. Cool you found it! Nearly 50 years since I bought my first record and they’re right up there. Been lucky enough to have seen them perform it live twice. The last time was third row at the Sydney Opera House - amazing. Hope you get to see them when things settle down.

“The waitress sits and waits for her first customer of the day. The dishwasher is in his van smoking weed. The cooks are probably talking to each other in Spanish. She watches cars drive slowly by with vigilance. She thinks about her son, that he is only two, wondering if she has another would it cut him in half? Would he be one and the second another? Everything, given the title of a number for the sake of tally or more. She sighs. I finish my bowl, go back inside as the first customer arrives. A man on a motorcycle.” ,dan’

Neither. You're just celebrating and reflecting when humans make art that inspires great platitudes and emotion. Fine to feel overawed. In fact welcomed by the artist. You get the same result when viewing Rembrandt, Caravaggio, listening to Beethoven, walking into the Pantheon - for the first time. Landing on the moon. Enjoy and don't forget.
