Also, stop commissioning Americans, because U.S.A. is literally Capitalism Land and capitalism is bad. Stop commissioning anyone from Europe, too, Europeans were big colonialists back in the day, just like the Americans, who are literally Europe's children. Same goes for Saouth America, they're just all Spain's or Portugal's children, mostly. And don't commission artists from countries with mostly muslim people, cuz ya know, 9/11 and stuff, I guess. Oh, and stop commissioning Japanese artists, remember WWII? They were with the bad guys, after all. And of course, don't commission people from Africa, most of the freaking continent is under some kind of dictatorship, right? Aaaand don't commission people from Thailand, India, China, so on and so forth, those countries are already rich or gonna be rich because they make 90% of the stuff the rest of the world uses. To this day, not all of the money has been recovered and a lot of Filipinos live in poverty. Ultimately his term ended with the EDSA People Power Revolution which is actually celebrated on February 25. BBM himself only studied until high school and claims to have graduated college from Oxford University, but the university says that he didn’t. He and his mother also call the period of martial law the “golden age” despite it leading to many people getting tortured and killed. Bong Bong Marcos found reasons not to appear in debates and has even been convicted of tax evasion. Also recently in the news one of Pablo Picasso’s missing paintings was found in the Marcoses house and it’s either the actual thing or a replica (which is also illegal because replicas are only allowed a certain number of years after an artist has died). This is the result of years of misinformation and fake news being spread. There’s a problem with the education system here in the Philippines, and our leaders are to blame. A lot of the arguments for BBM are due to his father’s contributions to infrastructure and economy, which is true, but the lives that were taken/ruined cannot be glossed over. It’s a vicious cycle, and so people are angry over the results because it’s clear the country hasn’t learned from history. This is the same country that’s voted in a comedian, actor(s), and a professional boxer all with no previous experience in politics into office.

He’s still not in office yet, but I doubt he’s ever gonna get impeached. The Commission of Elections (Comelec) didn’t disqualify him so he’s going to become president unless something big happens and there’s nothing to be done. I doubt the other people within the government would like to get him impeached because him being in power benefits them. Corruption is rampant in the Philippines. Even if he were to get impeached, Sara Duterte (she won as vice president, is the daughter of the current president, and was BBM’s running mate) would get into power and she’s the one that’s pushing for K-14 instead of K-12 and mandatory reserve officers training corps (ROTC) instead of focusing on the problems we have now such as the pandemic. (Fun fact! The Philippines was called the worst country to be in amidst the pandemic. What an honor!)

As a brazilian, I can relate to what's going on in Phillipines, since the context in which they elected the president is quite similar to Brazil electing Bolsonaro. Everyone outside Brazil probably thinks that we're a bunch of stupid people, but that's not the case, we were MANIPULATED to elect him. In fact the majority of people just voted on him because they vilainized the opposite political party, and the majority that didn't vote in Bolsonaro voted blank or didn't vote at all, and that's the main reason why he won the elections. What I'm trying to say here is, don't judge the people from a certain place just because of their political background, that's just fucked up and stupid. Btw in case you're wondering, no, I did not vote for Bolsonaro, I'm privileged enough to have access to reliable information and not elected a piece o turd like him.

I greatly disagree. But understandable as you don't have any ideas of what the Philippine government supporters' side. Can't blame you cause even here inside our country, misinformation, fake news and bias reporting occurs made by Yellow Propagandas that despite of the government's accomplishments chose to badmouth and create a bad image of Philippines to gain sympathy from foreign countries because majority of their fellow Filipinos made a democratic act of voting our chosen leader and they can't do anything to console their selfishness. Honestly speaking, our President Marcos never made the 31million+ to vote him out of terror, like what you're trying to compare to how your national leader was elected. So I suggest not to compare your country to a country you've never been or experienced yourself before. 🙃 Cause our elected President never undergone that crude way like how you describe your current leader, cause PBBM, he's not like that! From the start of his journey from filing for the presidential position, to campaigning, campaign rallies and now that he's going to be proclaimed our 17th Philippine President, people were very supportive of his advocacies and were very vocal of their full support, trust, heart and respect and it was witnessed even on surveys and on the actual result of the no. of votes. Of course, most media outlets opposed to him never shares the news favor to him and always finds their ways to dig dirt on him but they have no valid proofs, just mere accusations, that even if the loser opposition that resorted to cheating VP position last 2016, now filing DQ against the winning BBMarcos, were all trashed. They can't accept it cause they doesn't like to have a discipline and progressive nation, even trying to always bring him down but they just can't cause majority of Filipinos are watching closely now. In all honesty, we only get to know the actual happenings on the vlogs on fb, youtube and some unbiased network of how the majority of Filipinos supports him whole-heartedly, believing in his capabilities, not out of fear, but out of respect! Even if many puts lots of accusations and negative remarks, he remained humble and respects the Filipino people. He never bought people's votes, doesn't speak ill of other candidates running for presidency no matter how hard they try to bring him down. His character isn't even close enough to how others judge and criticize him but the total opposite of their accusations. Unlike the other side who keeps on dictating BBM supporters that their candidate MUST be chosen and not him. The opposition's supporters are majority just like their candidate who is up to no good- always the best at criticizing others, hiding in the name of human rights and democracy but doing unethical actions, willing to sacrifice self-respect and dignity out of desperation corrupting the minds of the youth to fight against the government and gaining sympathy using the painful happenings of the past that they themselves, undisciplined citizens caused and now they fear as their covers were blown away for conspiracy against the Philippine Government just cause majority of the Filipinos had been awakened of their lies of what they pertain to the "EDSA" trash that brought Philippines down for almost 30 years, self-procliamed "heroes" of our nation but did nothing except building worthless statues that doesn't bring worth to our Philippines. They even use Catholic priests to join their campaign against the Marcoses, making their Mama Leni lugaw ediited her face on a religious painting of Mama Mary and acts like cults. How disgusting! And knowing their side is losing, try to make other candidates to step down so the votes can make her win against BBM. Because of them, the children were disrespecting their parents who votes for BBM cause they want their "Mama Leni" on whose reason of running is questionnable. For Filipinos or just to beat a Marcos? They can't even open their mouths with their platforms but so great to talk like empty can who only knows how to criticize their fello Filipinos. How hypocrite! Now, who are the dictators? Him or them? 🙂

I also do think that another reason for certain people to win is solely because politics is so exhausting to try and understand for most. People have their own lives they want to focus on, and so either didn't vote or followed other people's advices to try to do the bare minimum because there is the pressure of your country's future depending on you, but the advices they've gotten were from biased people. That really doesn't make anyone stupid, and as someone who wants to be invested in politics - I completely understand why people would hate this never-ending hurricane of controversy. I can't even blame them for wanting to get this over with.

The reason Marcos was elected as president was because the people who replaced him like the Aquino government turned out more corrupt, inept and equally brutal. The election is the most peaceful and most transparent for a long time. The International observers and US government finds the election very fair and quite peaceful, something they would hardly do since the US is against the Marcoses. All national Polls and media polls (most are anti-Marcos since most are owned by cronies of the rival Aquino family) all the polls find Marcos winning by a large margin. His closest opponent, who's just a Puppet by the anti-Marcos Oligarchs that controls much of the mass-media, had nothing to offer but just mud-slinging and negativity, with no any actual platform to put forward. Marcos put unity and cooperation with everyone, especially having the Daughter of the present President as Vice-President. It's means a continuation of more Reform and Economic progress that the Philippines is experiencing right now. I wouldn't put to much stock on the MSM about Marcos. A lot of those companies are gained by political favors and corruption hand-outs by the Anti-Marcos group. I lived through those times it's totally different from what the Media portrays. Ferdinand Marcos was good friends with Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew. Most of Lee's strict iron-fisted rule of Singapore he copied from Marcos. Most of Marcos's rival in those times are Rich Land-Owners, most are literal Warlords with their own Militia and Marcos was pushing for real Land Reform to better the Agriculture sector. The Communist and Muslim terrorist are thriving at that time. Those times are really violent and chaotic. It's hard to go to University because of the constant riots, Student shootings or bombings, hostage taking. Marcos was able to stabilize and brought order back. He was investing much on Philippine infrastructure to make the Philippines more economically competitive and more modernize (which past government have neglected and which the Usurping Government all but wasted and destroyed along with the people's money.) You can see a little of these Demonizing and Spreading Fake-News with the same way these people irrationally cancel Pilipino artists due to rampant misinformation.

As a filipino artist, it was very sad and frustrating to witness all of these in real time. A lot of PH groups I was in started losing hope, discussing alternatives and tactics on how to keep art businesses afloat with all the cancellations of commissions and contracts. One artist I follow was expecting a payment that would've lasted their household for over a year, yet was denied because of election results they couldn't control. I was one of the few lucky ones where instead of backing out, my clients were willing to just pay and not receive anything in return as support because they knew the stress happening in our country. It sickens me how some people would just cut off an innocent artist's source of income in a snap because they don't want to be cancelled over a 'bad investment'. Too many social media users really would rather protect their non-existent reputation than having a heart and helping those in need.

If it's 50+%, it says half of us don't support Marcos and what he stands for and we don't deserve to be treated as if we did support him. My whole family and I did not vote for Marcos and I'm worried about what's gonna happen to our country in the years to come. They have also have adopted the UK's voting system, which allows that with the right amount of gerrymandering they can secure themselves a win. Alot of people have not voted for Orban, yet he and his party still won. And I have (luckily) not seen people do this to Hungarian artists, but hoo holy shit. This is so sad... I am Filipino and I was just scrolling tonight because I have only recently started drawing again... I used to draw when I was a child until my early teens, and then I got to stop... I tried drawing again back in 2020 when the pandemic struck but it was a failed attempt... Now, I am taking another chance, but I felt so sad after seeing this :( I never knew their decisions would affect a lot of things, even art. I didn't even vote for Marcos because I didn't fall for his lies... but yeah, it really is sad. :(

I was just about to take commissions and when our country started to have this misunderstanding..my dreams just shattered from helping my mom from doing the best thing I was good at...

Then keep going at it. Nothings stopping you lol. If your dreams shattered this easily then you better prepare for the future cause more hardships will come your way. If there are people that don't want to commission you because you're a _Filipino_ , there may be people who want to because you have skill. There's still hope so don't sulk and strive to become a better artist to help your mom.

Good point, now do a video about all of the other artists that have been in the same situations for years. I don't see anybody shed a tear about all of the artists that live in African and middle eastern dictatorships, they can't even get paypal account to start doing commissions.

I just saw this on my feed today and again reminded me of how sad it is. To properly inform people only 60% percent voted for him. And there are a a lot of Filipino against him. Social media mis-information is a big blame for all this bad things happening in our country.

I am half Filipina born in Canada and an aspiring artist myself. I’m worried for my family back home, my aunts and uncles, cousins…i hate this dictatorship. Cancelling commissions for Filipino artists who are *struggling* right now isnt helping AT ALL. This is devastating

Considering the fact that most voting people are middle age/old people (and artists are most likely younger than that, and they don’t actively vote), and the fact election in third countries and with high corruption levels are most likely rigged and falsified, you are most likely hurt people who are not related to the dictatorship, and that’s just sad. I think it might happens to Russian artists as well, since Putin’s invasion to Ukraine, but in the end artists who are from Philippine or Russia do not deserve the fate of loosing a job bcs of politics, unless they actively support the government. Its already hard to earn money for artists, don’t make it worse.

No. I'm a Filipino artist. Most people here who voted for Marcos are the young people who have been exposed to the Marcos apologist machine. Voter turnout's been quite huge this election too. My dad's generation would never vote for Jr. because martial law is still quite fresh in their memory. Only the ones who benefitted from Marcos in their generation would vote for the guy, and they're the minority. My friend's family is actually one of those. Quite funny because my family was (quite actively) on the other side of the fight in those times, but we're still good friends. Politics is such BS, and what I hate the most is other countries faking concern, dragging business into politics and hurting ordinary people.

I agree with Ice Cell, the one who actually voted for Marcos were mostly the younger generation, there's even an article about it, the older ones (the one who experienced the old times and was ruled under) Actually hates him XD *insert my parents who absolutely despised him*

Sad how all of my family tree except for me voted for the Dictatojunior because they all believed social media propagandas by trolls that keeps spreading false information. I guess I'm the only one thoroughly researched the candidates and even if I voice out my opinion to my family they wouldn't believe me. Even me not voting for him raised so many eyebrows from my family and it sucks.

Even though I don't take commission, as a Filipino artist, I appreciate it SO MUCH that you made this video. My fellow artists need support more than ever and its frankly idiotic and unfair that people are pulling out of commissions for reasons that don't affect them. It shows some level of self-centeredness and racism, even if its unintentional, in my opinion. You're doing great work here man! Lots of love from the Philippines

I am a 16 year old Filipino artist, not really a big artist but these non-Filipinos have the audacity to say "it's risky" to take commissions from Filipino artists because of the candidate that won in the election? Politics LITERALLY had nothing and absolutely nothing to do with these artists who is just doing their business trying to earn some money.

I would like to apologize in behalf of my countrymen if trolls and bots begin to storm this video and harass you, Mohammed. It already happened to Hassan Minhaj, John Olliver, and any foreigner who spoke against the current administration and against the Marcoses. If you see these trolls, please do understand they're a problem that the country is currently dealing with. Thank you for speaking up on this. There's a lot of things that went on during that election, and that night during the partial tally was shady as hell. There's also a lot to unpack about this issue, but it's just absolutely devastating.
