This movie took about 18 years to make. It was released in 1960. This scene was not originally in color and was probably shot sometime in the very late 50's. Madhubala was born February 14, 1933 The playback singer Lata Mangeshkar was born on September 28, 1929 This was the last movie Madhubala acted in. She had a congenital heart defect whereby a hole in a ventricle prevented her heart from beating efficiently. The scenes in this movie wore her out for good. Her condition is routinely fixed these days from a surgical procedure that started to become available at the time of her death on Valentines Day 1969. Everything about this scene makes it a timeless evergreen classic. Her magnificent beauty remains for the ages to appreciate. And so does the magnificent beauty of Lata Ji's voice. I have played this scene hundreds of times.
