In this latest interview with Mohnish Pabrai on TIP, he goes deeper on why it's so important for value investors to circle the wagons.
He also weighs in on the challenges of investing in Japan, and why Alibaba has ended up in the "too hard" pile.

Brad, I own numerous businesses that have been held for over a decade. And I still often have to beat myself with a stick to continue to hold them. This is not an easy game.

I was at the Berkshire-week in Omaha last week and Mohnish held a presentation just about that topic. Like always a really good talk, he's simply one of the best communicators in the actual value investors landscape. I didn't learn too much since it's repetitive, but listening to him was a highlight.

I have listened to the interview before watching this. This is a great summary! Thanks a lot!! Key takeaway for me is letting your strong winners run. "Time is their friend." Also interesting insights into Japan, that japanese companies put their employees first. As a positive effect, Japanese companies often are very resilient and have strong balance sheets.

Hi Brad, Any thoughts on Pabrai’s wagon fund? It seems to violate a number of MP’s commandments.

@@matiassanchez8352 Haha they probably feel more comfortable telling their clients they’ve invested money in a fancier stock. I wish I’d bought in when it was down at like 5800 a few months back!

@@lewis809 yeah true it's not the most cool business out there. I think if you pay at a pe ratio of 20 and hold for a long time you'll still do well. (Not financial advice haha)

This is just remarkable. Pabrai is just plain noise. The great spawner Shinoken. The I don’t think the Chinese government will kills its golden goose Alibaba talk. I don’t like mega caps but buy Alibaba and Tencent. Then this twaddle about circling the wagons, instead of just saying buy good companies and hold them. He is just marketing his fund and everybody who gives him a Plattform will get a talk.

Maybe sometimes it is twaddle, but overall Pabrai is a master teacher & storyteller, & we are blessed to have him dispense real world business knowledge & wisdom as the apostle of value investing.
