I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for....

I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.

@@MaeveAthena The crazy part is that those advisors are probably outperforming the market and raising good returns but some are charging fees over fees that drain your portfolio. Is this the case with yours too?

Biggest lesson i learnt in 2023 in the stock market is that nobody knows what is going to happen next, so practice some humility and low a strategy with a long term edge.

I have a little bit of BABA and honestly don't know what to think of it. It's not the price, but the nature of the business. Right now, it looks like its market can be easily breached by any competitor, and whatever success the company had is now in the past as they try to "restructure". On the other hand, how could Charlie Munger misjudge a company's moat, given that he's one of the OG investors who stresses the importance of moats?

To me I see the government inflation rate for the year as an average over 12 months but in reality inflation compounds monthly so it appears to be 5% higher. Getting rich with inflation or canceling debt with inflation is completely wrong in my mind and here is why. You can’t print your way out of debt and The cost of the house didn’t go up the value of the dollar went down so it gives a person a since of making money because the house might have cost 100k when you bought it and might sell for 200k but what has happen is your dollar lost 50%. Every generation is working much harder for longer for a reason and that is because our money is worth less every year and it’s just a matter of time before the dollar looses the reserve currency statues. We are all screwed if that happens.

The most accurate stat on inflation is the M2 money supply growth rate over time. In general, if you market weight each country's currency the average M2 growth rate is 14% per year since 1960 (between relatively stable US currency and hyperinflating currencies like Venezuela). 6-7% per year inflation in U.S. is fair estimate and certainly higher than the governments quoted 2% that they always target. Fiat money is a giant ice cube....with value dripping off it...😐 Great podcast episode below detailing this: www.theinvestorspodcast.com/bitcoin-fundamentals/how-fiat-works-saifedean-ammous/

Another investment channel did a back test to determine the performance of stocks (several hundred) after several insiders bought shares. The data showed that the stock price actually went down within the next 12 months. It was a surprising finding.

Hello, wake up to the post QE error of high interest rates. When your interest rates out pace, the rate of inflation, then this formula simply will not work. The days of near zero interest rates are over. They will be printing money again, which will ensure these rates remain high.

Yes, but in a way, when we talk ab margin of safety... that can be partly based on..estimations of free cash flow to back into fair value using DCF...or events in the future.. so, that can be part speculation. No one knows the future or what can throw a wrench into things. Also, everyone comes up with different margins of saftey..esp the pros. As a whole, the stock mkt is volatility in an...upward direction...and time in the market beats timing the market most of the time. Investing in individual stocks takes work but it is so much fun...and addictive
