I lived in Hilo but once in awhile my Dad would haul the boat to Kona for fishing. Once he took me and 2 of my friends and dropped us off in the bay back in the 80's. Had the beach all to ourselves and it was just so amazing. While it's nice that you can just drive up to it nowadays it's also a little sad. There are lots of small moi in the bay. I usually see a good amount by the middle rock.

Thanks for taking the barb out. I’m an avid diver and you wouldn’t believe the number of animals I see with hooks in them.

Look like you found the moi hole bro, they like those area's with choke sand & rocky ledges. Gotta hit that spot with the big bamboo pole & some bread when moi season come around👌

Hey hawaiian, you’re right moi like messy water and they like choke water so they tend to eat and get big bear stream mouths and come out when it rains.

I caught a Pananu down there in the bay one time. You can take your net and scoop the sand for the sand fleas and they are action for bait. Put two on a whipping rig and casted it out and let it sit. Next thing you know my reel was screaming and I brought in a pananu. Never thought uhus like bait like that 😂

How do you not cut your finger when you cast, I can hear the drag slip lol. I remember when I had to get 4 stitches because the line cut my finger so bad when I casted because the drag was to loose and slipped. Now I just wear a glove when I cast braided line.
