for people having confusion : According to the Palm Leaf Book (Puskola Potha) - the architect of the Sigiriya was Mayasura. He built up Sigiriya on the instructions given by King Visthavasa, the father of Ravana. During that period the Sigiriya was called Alakamandava (City of Gods). After the death of Ravana, Vibeeshana became the king and he shifted the kingdom to Kelaniya. Prince Kassapa who was the son of King Daathusena has selected Sigriya as his residence. King Kassapa was the only king who did reconstruction and maintained the Chiththakuta as done by the king Ravan. Hence Indians believing in Ramayan may consider the architectures there of Ravana's reign otherwise it might be of Kassapa's reign too

The Paw or foot you are referring to I think it is of Garud because of its structure it can't be of a lion .At the start of the paw, I will say a claw is coming down a bit straight and whereas if u see the paw of a lion it is not straight it doesn't come down straight . It goes horizontal a bit then it bends . So basically what I want to say is that I think this is a claw of Garud .
