The best part of this adaptation is their interpretation of channeling. It actually looks like they are weaving with the One Power and not just shooting magic out of their fingertips. I could watch the channeling scenes over and over.

I loved this series so much I decided to read the books because after Season 2 I felt so forlorn and needed more. The story being so different between the Prime version and the books is hard to reconcile though...hopefully I will be able to enjoy both when Season 3 returns.

It surprises me that so many people could get past the opening act of the show. So many things wrong with the canon of the books that it was indescribable. The narration that she was looking for three boys; she wasn't looking for a boy, she was looking for a soldier that came home with a child. Six Red Ajah hunting a male channeler and they killed him on the spot; Thirteen was always the number to control and capture a man who could channel. He was always taken to the tower for "trial" to show that the tower was in control of things dealing with the One Power. Moiraine didn't bat an eye, nor did she inform Siuan Sanche. Totally inconceivable as those two knew who they hunted and the reason they knew others of the Aes Sedai would be opposed.

@potentpotables5468 the number of Ajah in the scene being different from the book doesn't constitute "bad writing." Its a silly nitpick. Using thirteen actresses for such a scene would be overkill and unnecessary. It takes nothing away from the story and still fits within its own world building laws. Also it was noted in the following episodes that Liandrin was intentionally operating outside the scope of the Amrylin seat, pretty much doing her own thing like an outlaw, plus shes Black Ajah.

@@ndo533, by her own admission in the books, Moiraine was "looking for boys of a certain age." Later, when she realized it was Rand, she cared less for Mat and Perrin until she later came to understand their purpose. At the beginning of book three, Liandrin was one of the Sisters sent to bring Moiraine to the Amyrlin. During the attack on Fal Dara, Liandrin used the One Power against Rand. Did Moiraine protect Rand or merely question Liandrin? Using the Power in defense of life was allowed and if she knew that Liandrin was Black Ajah, it would have kept Eqwene out of the hands of the Forerunners. So, yes, the number of inconsistencies is what leads to "bad writing." The show might be great. Just don't show it to anyone who has read the books.
