The failure to read even a single enemy's pattern was pretty frustrating, ngl. Not to be a backseat gamer, but Magister Dullain clearly has a sound when he's about to toss a body, and his tongue winds up before it lashes straight out. It's not undodgeable, dodging on the wind up means it's still tracking where you're going. I only know the latter because the wind up animation is so big/obvious, and _because_ you guys did it accidentally, when you rolled "late" you don't get hit.

I really hope they still enjoy the game as my buddy and I love it so far. We also are playing this on nightmare mode. As much as I love your clip through the wall strat, this drastically changed the beginning by skipping bloat king. Bloat king is the actual first boss. When they skipped the bloat king, they skipped a large area that was meant for leveling. The mage boss was actually quite easy, we managed to kill it on the first attempt. By the time you fight the mage boss you should have explored a massive amount of the first area. They did not realize that the map has a key depicting the main quest line. The diamonds on the doors also showed whether they have completed searching of certain areas. They also missed a lot of lore to speak to 2 npcs in the asylum. There you get the mini quest for the collection of the stone statues and when you give it to a lady behind a prison cell that’s when you are ready to fight the mage boss. Also about the armor. Yes there is no armor upgrade which is strange. I didn’t even realize that there wasn’t armor upgrades until I watched this lol Big thing as well. In order for more effective combat up close, you have to learn how to use neutral dodge. Basically dodge without using movement. I think it’s just space bar without a directional input. It uses about half the stamina and you recover faster. Incredibly effective if you plan to use melee more than ranged weapons. I say this cause a boss you will fight soon absolutely destroys you with low stamina. Hope this helps! I’m excited to watch how you progress through here. Cause the night weaver is absolutely ruthless.

Remnant has no set first boss, every single run through is randomly generated for what bosses you'll encounter in what order. I've replayed the first section of the game 5 times and each time had a different order

It’s kind of a niche thing, if you’re into souls likes and looter shooter type games, or really like games like Destiny and Borderlands but want a challenge, this game is for you. It’s not THAT hard, but it’s meant to be a souls like fps that just focuses on loot and tight gunplay. From what I see this is a major upgrade to the first, which imo was really stiff and janky. But it all comes down to your preferences my man.

How do they get away with calling this a "Soulslike"? Because it's difficult and the bosses have health bars at the bottom of the screen? It's nothing like any Souls game, it has more in common with Gears of War and any other 3rd person cut scene heavy shooter...
