Re: the Ian Watkins sentencing remarks. I made a huge mistake in reading that document, thinking, "How bad can it be? It's a legal document. A judge wrote it, it's being written into the record in the Welsh legal system." I have never been more wrong about anything in my entire life. He graphically explains every count of which that POS was convicted and, the more I read, the less able I was to stop, kind of like the whole train wreck scenario. It didn't just ruin my day, it ruined my view of humanity. And while I understand that some of the women involved were just girls when the whole thing started, as a mother, I will NEVER be able to understand listening to anyone telling you to harm your child and agreeing to do that. Just, no. Those poor babies. I'm not overly sentimental, but that shit was pure horror.

In New Age Christianity they've seemed to have distanced themselves from accountability by saying things like hate the sin and not the sinner. New age? Christianity at its core is and has basically always been a method of manipulation, that horded the wealth of nations and the poor, controlled the flow of knowledge, served as a justification for tragedy after tragedy, a method of assimilation and oppression for millenniums and seeded conflict after conflict. You see it used to exploit people in the modern age because its always been a tool for exploitation. By way of a middle man dynamic that places a individual in a position of power over a congregation, by means of a connection to a deity- - a unquestionable omnipotent deity - Regardless of its original intentions The faiths of Abraham particularly branches of Christianity are there for innately predisposed to corruption.

As a former pastor, I agree with you about the praise pastors and church leaders get. I quit preaching because of it. I felt wrong when I would pray for the sick or needy, and they would thank me with way too much praise. I always reminded them that God deserved all thanks and praise. I was just doing what I'm supposed to. That and the speaking in tongues outside the biblical teaching and acting like that made them special. But mostly guilt for the praise I recieved.

I know what you mean. I saw them play live twice - First time was before they'd even released an album. They just happened to be playing a show at my favourite pub on a night when I was there. Had no idea who they were back then, but I was really impressed. It was exciting stuff. Second time was when they were supporting another band I really liked (Kill II This, I think), and again they made a huge impression on everyone. My own interest fell off quite a bit after they released the second album, but it was plain to see that they were getting super popular incredibly quickly and then . . . . This. I've probably still got my copy of the first album somewhere, but I can't imagine ever wanting to listen to it again. Everything I liked about it is tainted now ... spoiled ... infected ... and it simply isn't possible to separate the music from that disgust. It went from something that a lot of people enjoyed, to something everyone wishes they could just forget.

It really shows how demented certain churches are when statutory rape is considered adultery. In their eyes, the sin is “You had sexual relations with someone who was not your wedded spouse” and the thought train stops there. It doesn’t matter who it was to them because in their eyes sexual misconduct has no severity or context, but a binary “Did you do it, Yes | No”. In order to avoid “splitting hairs” and getting into debates, they just sweep it altogether in one camp. This is also, consciously or unconsciously, a tactic to downplay the sense of severity of child abuse practiced among the congregation.

At the beginning he got really close to the family and even recorded conversations between the family members in order to see if they suspected him, it was in Northern Ireland, not to be mixed up with Southern Ireland which have two different legal prosecution systems. He still to this day he maintains that he was innocent and even tried to let on he was framed at one point 👀 Natalie was also pregnant with HIS child so it’s even more disgusting.

You shouldn't forgive a piece if shit. You SHOULD find it in yourself to forgive a person for having once been a piece of shit, but obviously this pastor wasn't quite done being a piece of shit because he attempted to covered up the more heinous details and keep those facts out of the light to soften the blow, rather than owning up an repenting. If he has truly done those things, which are disgusting no matter how he feels about them now, but then he came fully clean even decades later and got help, and resigned from spiritual leadership, there would be actual potential for growth and i would say it's time to begin the path of forgiveness. But again, obviously not the case here.

The Franke stuff is upsetting and very complicated because it sounds like authorities were not interested in doing actual really investigations or that the local laws were very weak in terms of protecting the children and if the family members who were aware of something being off pushed more publicly that that could in fact endanger the children more. If the parents already knew they were getting away with things because the police and family services either didn't care or had their hands tied and the parents were upset by the constant attempts of others to involve authorities the abuse could very well escalate and those family members might be cut off from contact with the children, thus making it even harder for them to know what was happening. Laws to protect children vary widely from place to place and actual response from the authorities varies dramatically too when dealing with domestic violence incidents and it's awful how hard it can be to get children the help they need. I'm not at all taking the family's side here. I do think that there were definitely things they could have done, avenues they could have explored if they had truly been so concerned over what was happening in the Franke household but I do have to remind people it's not as cut and dry as it seems here for a wide variety of reasons, from the laws themselves, to the policies of the departments meant to enforce them, to the social services and court systems, to the disgusting mind set of parents and the person they chose over their own children, to the family who likely didn't know how to help them and thus decided to keep quiet, all of these people and systems failed those children for years for multiple reasons.

I needed this content!!! Thank you, believers need to rap their head around the fact that god unconditionally loving them doesn’t equate being liked. No, no! To the contrary, the being liked bit is up to them. People want to be in, or stay in, God’s favor? Live a life that naturally occasions God’s favor upon the righteous! I’m pretty sure people acting evil and taking God’s forgiveness, or unconditional love, for granted is disrespectful so those simpletons will just loop round the cycle of low life living and despair destined for hell. It’s never too let to repent, but repent you must. People just need to do their best until they know better, then do better within frameworks that don’t even go beyond the very basic principle of “do unto others, as you would have them do to you” and/or karma. The older I get, the more I suspect I’m in some kind of guardian angel training!!

But, the man found a grown woman his own age and totally agree with the church's decision to fire him because he should have held himself to higher standards.

what happened in that case?

Mmm not entirely correct Kevin entirely approved of the terrible treatment of their kids before Jodi even came into the picture. Sending their oldest to a wilderness camp, taking his bed away, letting their kids starve if they don’t pack their own lunches, there’s tons more and that’s stuff that happened before Jodi. Kevin isn’t guiltless he may not be as bad but he’s not winning father of the year anytime soon.

We want to forget the dark and ugly. But it's important to bring the dark and ugly to the light. I don't follow your content but somehow I found you. You hold people accountable in a way that's not a cancel campaign, you admit if you make a mistake. I can't articulate it but you have my respect

4:10 I'm not religious but the whole "God called you here" part, sure god wouldn't call you there to forgive but maybe he called you there to understand how fucked up humans can be.

Hmm. I've had my kids finish this or that before lunch or something. But it's not like they were starving already. They still eat 3x a day and a good amount of between meal snacks.

1 Corinthians 11:14 False apostles (special messenger) But what I do, that I will continue to do, that I may cut off occasion from those who desire occasion, that wherein they glory they may be found even as we. For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel, for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works.

OK about the whole Joanne the exposing Ian for having possession of his so-called stuff that was supposed to that she was supposed to send the authorities I couldn’t believe for the life of me that she got in trouble but she didn’t even though she was the one that sent the authority first hand yet they did nothing about it until they arrested her for that onwards What a crazy thing about the police laws in our our humanity when it comes to trying to expose someone it backfires on that victim that doesn’t like that at all and yet they in trouble for it. It’s kinda like if you have a school bully and report a principal and you tell them that hey this is yummy but then you find out that they take the bull then you’re old it’s just crazy like that.>

I remember the 1st one they didn't go anywhere near the victim who uu can hear crying in the background but "christians" are all about forgiveness of the evil but yet victim blaming the poor innocent victims
