We're traditionally married in South Africa, but South African immigration won't legally recognize our marriage until we've been together for 2 years (coming up May 11) even though all of the information online would lead one to believe proof of the paid dowry is all you need. Meanwhile, the US won't even grant us a visa to get legally married on US soil. We feel completely invisible while we're bleeding thousands of dollars just so I can stay in South Africa 3 months to be a dutiful husband and step-father at a time until the South Africa side will grant me residence.

Tons of them got bused to various northern cities because Biden changed some of the rules, and they are now receiving three meals a day, guaranteed shelter for 6 months, spending money for food and necessities etc. that’s much more than American citizens who are homeless or struggling get. Because it’s politically virtuous for politicians to do, esp after announcing their sanctuary status.
