They redid the entire enchantment system to further optimize performance, added one of THE most elaborate structures we've ever seen, and gave us a new weapon + usage cases for a ton of old niche items. This update feels like a complete package to me, they said nothing about a new biome.

Minecraft 1.21 is a technical update, IMO. Lots of changes behind the scene as to how the game itself works, data-driven datapacks rather than NBT, performance improvements, and new items that function in brand new ways. Yeah, the Poisonous Potato Update was neat, but I feel like it was a testing ground for a lot of the backend and seeing what they could do to improve customizing the game through datapacks, rather than via mods.

At 2:44 , I believe the "engineering" aspect of the update is more referring the changes to the NBT system behind the scenes. For 1.20.5, Mojang completely overhauled the item NBT tag system by replacing them with components. Components offer more versatility and customization in comparison to previous NBT tag system, so you can now do things like make edible diamonds with a stack size of 99 or a stick that functions like a diamond pickaxe. Components also work in recipes, so datapack modders have the ability to add in hundreds if not _thousands_ of new food, tools, and armor to the game, creating an easy and accessible modding option for the community to use. Datapacks modders could create their own custom spins on updates after/before they release, which could really help occupy players while they wait for the new content to drop in the next update. Additionally, 1.21's snapshots have made enchantments and paintings data-driven, which means you can edit existing ones _or_ add in your own, which opens up even more capabilities than what was possible in 1.20.5! For normal players, this update is just another typical one. But for modders, this is _revolutionary_ .

What other engineering and automation were people expecting? The crafter is already the single biggest redstone game changer ever added to the game besides redstone itself. Crafting was the last task left with no possible method to fully automate with existing redstone and game mechanics. Any other machine players could possibly want, they can already build.

Man, if I had to guess they will update the BADLANDS.... Don't you realize? Last picture from 1.20.5 was at the badlands, plus the armadillo would fit with a western type of biome along with the fruity cactus, the vulture, the dry rolling bush, maybe a rattlesnake and some type of structure (saloon, gold mine, etc).

I think the update is more then fine, we expect far too much. Plus we still have to wait on the update that usually comes right after this that adds a feature usually. They redid so much work on the game between librarians, and the ominus effect. The only thing I ever thought the update was lacking, was a trial boss of some kind, but that can't be super easy to add this late into developement if they ever even wanted to in the first place.

I think it's just the general expectation, and even if the update was as huge as 1.16, people with bad attitude still wouldn't find it as exciting. This update on it's own is really good (especially comparing it to 1.10, 1.11. 1.12, 1.13, 1.14, 1.15, 1.18, 1.19 and 1.20). You wouldn't say other updates were straight up better, would you? In addition, further datapack development was in the most part revolutionary for the datapack creators - such as one me myself. I'm just really sad that mojang changed lightbulbs so they can be coherent with bedrock's redstone, thus wasting such a good feature. Overall - very good update (better than some previous ones for sure)

when did they promise a new biome or a biome update for 1.21? They never did, people speculated that and they are disappointed and angry with Mojang for something they never said. The playful engineering was in reference to the crafter and the cooper bulb, the frying table was never planned, anything else, which is why the community is disappointed where Mojang didn't even say anything. And king was just making a joke about how the industrial revolution started because of the crafter, the developers can't even make jokes anymore without the community or THIS GUY saying what something is related to updates. I asked me what connection some biomes have with the Trial Chambers? If they had done it I would feel super disconnected just like 1.20, but that wasn't the case, this update has MUCH MORE CONNECTION with its features than "Trails & Tales" the only wasted potential was not adding combat tests and the Copper Golem. God the people should think better, they are disappointed by things that were never promised in the first place 💀

Copper and Tuff golems are useless and featureless. 1.21 sucks just like everything released past 1.16 and 1.22 will be just like that. Get hyped for the shittosaurus that will roam around and give you new aids colored signs that don’t have functionality and the Crack house structure or the shitlands biome. can’t have both, because that takes too much time, sorry. Wow, didn't even try the update before making your opinion on it, literaly most of the stuff in 1.21 is pretty damn good, breeze gives its rods wich make wind charges aka one of the most versitile items in the game aswell as being used to craft a weapon(strongest weapon in the game), a potion(wind charged) and the rods can even be used to clone the "flow" armor trim, the bogged is easy access to tipped arrows of poison and can even be sheared to get mushrooms, vaults are revolutionary on multiplayer, trial chambers are literaly one of the most complex structures in the game, copper and tuff get more uses, straight up reworked bad omen in a way that would guarantee that other structures get an ominous event of their own later down the line, straight up made enchants data driven and completely overhauled NBTS

This is just back to the classical problem of over communicating on uncertain aspects. Kingbdogz thought that saying "The industrial revolution starts now" was fine and hyping for the community, even though he knew that the industrial features would be part of this update and that this crafter was gonna be the only thing for now. I do believe that Mojang have plenty of ideas that they need to make conceptually good before working on them separately before including them in Snapshots AND previews. Minecraft development looks like a rather complicated thing and if they could get rid of some chains they'd feel freedom overwhelming them.

This update is fine;it adds a new giant dungeon, auto crafter which will make a lot of new redstone contraptions; new wolf varieties. Tons of new blocks especially the tuff block, armadillos painting music disc (even thought it’s not C418 which is depressing) that being said if they’re adding a new dimension or even adding to the end that will be a ton of new biomes/ content. For what it’s worth this feels like a great update! It feels like the setup for the next one.

A giant dungeon that's mid with mid tier loot, auto crafters that are mid and enable lazy farming, wolf skins that aren't bad but it's embarrassing it took them this long to add, we didn't even get many blocks and even then they're blocks that should've been added four updates ago, armadillos that suck and are useless, paintings which are fine but just variants. "It feels like the setup for the next one." Dude people have been saying this for years, it's really tiring to get updates worth of unfleshed out content.

Why 1.21 isn't a good update Reason: 1.20.5 NOBODY asked for 1.20.5 This was also the PERFECT time to add the copper and the tuff golem since more copper and tuff blocks were added, but they refused.

that is the only point i agree on the whole video. no biomes makes sense because they only said about trial chambers and at the very last, playful engineering which makes sense with the amount of tinkering content added in the update. they went with the topic they started, trial chambers, the main focus of update and the tinkering as something which just gives players extra boost for their own builds and minigames. they were never anything about any biomes, not even mentioned it except the mob vote thing that it would be in **** biome. i only agree on the point of copper golem, it was a large missed opportunity which meets copper expansion, playful tinkering and traps.

Why 1.21 IS a good update and the developers need to be cut some slack Reason(s): Uhm... hello? Trial chambers? This is huge. An entirely new frontier to fight in, new mobs, new challenges, new potions, new weapons. If you're basing the badness of this update on 1.20.5, like... bro, really? How does that hinder it at all? It's just a little mini update, who cares if anyone asked for it. It's an early release of a fun little feature that didn't really fit with the rest of the update. Wolf armor is sick, armadillos are sick, etc. I mean, I never heard inklings of a trial chamber until they announced them, so who's to say that anyone asked for that either? You mentioned the copper and tuff golems, but I honestly am wondering, what would they have done? The copper golem was a little copper creature who was attracted to buttons and would turn green occasionally. Really? That's what everyone is upset about? And what of the tuff golem? It displays items. That's not game changing. The trial chambers? Those are. And they didn't refuse, Microsoft has hindered mojang in a major way. Am I going to say this is my favorite update? No, but considering that the wild update was absolutely fantastic, I'd say that they've done an amazing job in recent years. I just think if you're going to argue that this isn't a good update that you need to have something substantial to base it off of.
