Parts of this area remind me of Spirit Mountain outside of Laughlin, NV - definitely worth checking out. The granite rock formations are breathtaking.

Thanks for all the great stuff you put out there, Cliff. These aren't videos... they are audio/video geographic studies. You had beautiful weather most of the time. I did notice you made a still shot entry for that desert storm that was brewing off to the side. You want to stay away and above any of those washes when they flood. Have you ever gotten stuck in one of those events? Gord

You're welcome Gorrdd! They're basically video presentations, as if I was making a presentation in a lecture hall. In the Preserve, we've been there many times and we didn't live too far away. It was mostly winter, so no threat of flash floods, plus the Mojave Desert isn't known for flash floods. Those were winter storm clouds. We now live in Southwest Utah, and I help two touring companies with leading tours and we are well aware of flash flood events here. Two people just died in our favorite slot canyon, Buckskin Gulch. See our tour of that place and the warnings we give. Yes, we experienced a flash flood in the Colorado Rockies and once in Canyon de Chelly in Arizona. Both were exciting to say the least!

@@BackRoadsWest1 Thanks Cliff... Yes, video presentations is a great description. I like them because they can be studied and compared with other reference points. But actually being there is a whole other reality. I believe in the spring and fall, with weather changes, the Mohave gets some scattered downpours. I follow an off road motorcycle KZbin channel that was riding through therea few weeks ago and it got really muddy. When did you move to Utah? It wasn't that long ago that you were driving buses at Yosemite. Gord

@@gorrdd - yes, that's my goal, so people can study them as well as giving them a "virtual tour" experience. We've lived in Utah for 7 years. I drove/tour guided in Zion, not Yosemite.

I'm love to watch your videos of National Mojave Preserve. It's sad to see the destruction of Castle Mountains for its gold. Mining should be outlawed at our National Parks.😢
@BackRoadsWest1
@BackRoadsWest1 Жыл бұрын
Keep in mind that the mines were there before the national parks. Another thing to keep in mind that with all our consumer products, things we all rely on to live, if it isn't grown, it's mined. So we all rely on a lot of mining. Nevertheless, a lot of our land needs to be preserved before it is altered or destroyed forever. There has to be a fine balance of both. Thanks for commenting.

Are there any campgrounds for overnite camping?
@BackRoadsWest1
@BackRoadsWest1 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for inquiring. Our on-line guide explains a lot. It can be purchased here: www.backroadswest.com/brw/mojave-national-preserve/ Yes, there are campgrounds. We do offer guided tours, but not of the Preserve. We are based out of Southwest Utah, so we have several tours from there that are operated by different companies. This company, greaterziontours.net/ , offers great day tours and they may arrange a custom multi-day tour (because that's what it would take) for you of the Preserve. Hope that helps.

One of the greatest places for hunting in California. An amazing place to hunt varmits year-round, Dove and Quail, and the very best place for hunting Mule Deer. It's even possible to shoot a Desert Bighorn here if the stars align for you. A National Treasure!!!

I think you have the wrong video tour. Try this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/roDWnWSgepl5rMk - abductions occured wherever you see a cow alongside the road...
