The new 2 heat management units are definitely interesting iterations of the beloved Lotus. While both of them are unique and bring new features for us to digest, unfortunately 2 of the systems feel raw at the moment with a lot of shortcomings in functionality. Lotus has beautiful design but lacks in basic convenience features that we are so used too. NarHead has a lot of new features but implementation is poor at the moment(we are hoping for v2 or even v1.5 that fixes the problems). As of right now it is better to stick with the previous generation products since they bring great functionality and better value with the upcoming price drops.

Lmao the Nar is meant to be pre-heated. Hookah session begins immediately. It's the best HMD I've owned but it is really thick metal so it takes long to heat up if you dont pre-heat it.

Dude,you need to preheat the thing. That level of cloud simple means it is not primed. I own both, and nar produces bigger clouds. The video did injustice.

The lotus 2 is designed to be used with kaloud heads. Specifically the ones that have 4 notches that catch the 4 notches in the HMD. I currently use their samsaris with a lotus 1+ and it’s great

Great review bro .. I got the NAR and I am struggling finding the right bowl to use with it as it is bigger/wider than my Lotus + (which I love) .. any particular bowl you would recommend .. past the point of returning it by now :(

Well, my general recommendation is to stay with Lotus as it's size fits most of the bowl on the market. With NAR you can use HJ bowls those fit good, but NAR is really heavy and takes much more time to heat up. So I would stick with lotus. 👌

I own the Lotus 2 and it’s a lot easier to handle than described in the video. The key to lift the lid works well and you can use it to turn the lid for more or less airflow. The bottom piece where the coals rest can be removed after removing any charcoal. It is tricky at first, yet it’s still removable with prongs. I do use the glass hurricane bowl with the silicone wrap with the Lotus 2. Let me know if you have any questions or feedback.

Hey i just bought the lotus 2, but im not getting the same amount of smoke like I do using foil. I have the hookah john bowl that the guy in the video is using, and can forcefully fit 3 titanium charcoals in. Also when I pack using the lotus, i have to pack alot right? I have a DSH Mine Hookah, so far im not satisfied with the lotus 2 but maybe im doing it wrong? Thanks in advance.

Actually, Starbuzz NAR is not used like this. While your coals are burning, you need to leave its bottom bowl on the stove and let it warm up a little. Because it is made of heavy and thick material. Therefore, it is used with pre-heating, then you do not have any smoke problems.

If you want to get the best out of your nar hmd you should always preheat it. It is specially designed to do so. Another thing i would reccomend is unscrewing the handles when you are smoking. Hope that helps

Nice video, can you do a. Video on heat management? Eg, when is best to our second round of coals on so you don’t shock the tobacco. Also information on when best to rotate coals if using foil!

I have a Lotus 2 and I absolutely love it. It doesn't work well with bowls that you used because it doesn't have a lip so it can definitely fall off. But I usually it with a Ferris Bowl and it's super easy to move the lid. That being said, picking up the base isn't as easy as the lotus you guys have. And I agree that the older lotus plus is better for lounges because you don't want people stealing the handles forbthe lotus 2 Mbit for personal use I love it

I have the lotus plus and love it, but sometimes the burnt tobacco is very hard to get off the bottom... would it be okay to use foil underneath the lotus like when you pack a bowl normally?

How do you pack your bowl while using lotus ii? When I use A heat management device(Lotus ii) compared to foil, I get more smoke and flavor from foil by using the same bowl, number of coals and amount of shisha tobacco.

I know this review is a year old but I just came across the star buzz Nar Head and was interested. I think the best part of the Nar Head is also its downfall. The Nar Head air draw does not cross the coals. Because of this you don't get ash or coal smoke in your shisha draw. That's awesome. The down fall is that it doesn't have an active air flow across the coals so you have to keep the vent wide open or the top off to have any hope of keeping the coals burning. Air flow across the coals is what keeps them red hot. Unfortunately this usually works because of vents in the bottom of the HMD so the draw is across the coals, into the bowl from there through bottom vents and into the pipe. Its the exact same premise without an HMD where the coals sit on foil with holes in it. I'm actively looking for a HMD that keeps ash and coal smoke out of the shisha draw but don't see one that works well at keeping the coals lit to be honest.

This is a great video, but one thing that wasn't mentioned in the beginning is that the air vents in the Kaloud 2 are actually on the side and are somewhat protected so it is very difficult to get ash in the hookah bowl. You would have to be clumsy with adding and removing charcoal to have ash enter the bowl, so it's not impossible, but its not likely either. With 30 seconds to 1 minute of preheating, and using 2 coals with the lid on top at all times, you have a very consistent session with little fuss. The key works, but it is ideal to have a hookah that is on the ground when using the Kaloud Lotus 2, because then you can easily use the key to remove the top without any fuss or lack of stability to the bowl. Overall the Kaloud Lotus 2 performs quite well, and is a top contender for HMDs that have side vents to prevent charcoal ash from contaminating the bowl.

I think the NAR was really suppose to go with their Carbine Hookah. But from what I see, the NAR base is suppose to be heated as well but iv head that the thermometer has a issue with busting.

Both of these products way overpriced and still the designs have major downsides in terms of handling and adjusting the head. I bought a set from a brand called Budpro on Amazon. It came with a silicone bowl too and It only costs $15. I have been using it for more than a year and still rocking. If Starbuzz or any other company wants to lead in heat management systems, they should focus on price performance rather than giving us unnecessary features like the thermometer. Greetings, I totally agree that these are priced higher than the most of the HMU's. However keep in mind that the materials that are used might be of less quality and can be harmful. But some lower priced HMU's would be just fine!😊

I don't think you've reviewed the nar properly because unlike the kaloud the nar has instructed to preheat it up for use that's it purpose and reviewing it without preheating it as Instructed doesn't really account for a fair comparison in my opinion

Alright I’ve seen like 7 of these videos from different people and it drives me nuts. Please!!! TAKE THE HANDLES OFF WHEN SMOKING, it’s unsafe and off balanced and was not intended to be used this way Second off you do not need tongs to adjust the air flow opening ! THATS WHAT THE HANDLES ARE FOR, there’s small holes in the end that fit the little “nubs” on the lid .everyone complains about this and they literally designed the handle to do that for you so ya that is not a valid complaint. Lastly the lotus 2, remove it by sticking your tongs through the top air hole and grab it and lift it off. Simple solution. Other than that I appreciate the review but some poor information in here. Personally I use a lotus 1 but may try the nar despite some poor reviews from people with convenience concerns.

Oh and one last thing the nar is very thick and it is also intended from the manufacture to be placed on the burner with your coals so there is no preheat time. Again more misinformation in this review

@@kxdtefvbv7555 alright, how convenient is taking and putting the handles on every time you try to smoke? Does it seem cinvenient? Heating up the heat management unit with charcoals just adds extra steps on a hookah prep process. There are way better options. This is our experience with the particular device, and if we and others find it lacking there is probably a reason for that. This device suffers from over complication from ground up. Poor design and design choices lead to poor user experience. This in turn, brings poor reviews. 😉
